Strong relationships are at the cultural core of our sawmill in Raymond, Washington. They're the bonds that connect employees to each other and the community — and one of the first things leaders mention when discussing the mill's improved safety performance or the recent selection of Raymond as our second THRIVE community, a distinction that comes with a $1 million investment over the next several years. "Relationship building is a main pillar of our safety strategy," says Spencer Headley, mill manager. "It starts on the mill floor, with lots of interactions between leaders and hourly employees, and it's deepened by the many connections we all share within our community." Generations of my Family has worked for the Mill, I to worked for Weyerhaeuser, Now I am working 3,000 miles away as a safety manger in Washington DC, but I am flying back this weekend, and I am paying my respects to where my family used to live an who are now buried on the Hill, Raymond is special for me, and will always be close to my heart. Thank you for helping the community that has always stood by the mill by the river.
Love to see this as someone who grew up in Grays Harbor and near Willapa/Raymond. Would love to get more insight into how much money/initiatives will go toward employment. This area is struggling so much economically; if there is any way to get money into the citizens to reinvest in local businesses, that could spark real improvements to the region.
Yep! It’s always all about the people! Thanks for keeping the relationships going.
Lots of love for the Raymond mill; spent some of my best years there and have great love for the people and community.
