Winter sports are at the front line of climate change--the first affected and in the spotlight for the foreseeable future. We are also a part of the problem--our products, value chains, activities and travel. We, our customers, and the athletes we sponsor all emit greenhouse gases. Thus, as a winter outdoor industry, we are publicly formalizing our commitment and building global unity with our peers to address climate change and signal our commitment to a net-zero-carbon emissions future. The intersection of #climate and #health, particularly as it relates to #sport and our #wellbeing is not discussed enough. This interview with Emma Peacock is a great overview of some of the challenges that we face now - this isn’t just relevant to the #Paris #Olympics, but to all sports and our own personal fitness. Earth Day! As we all know, our earth is undergoing some major changes, especially in many African countries that we work in. Although the African continent contributes little to global climate change, the impact is felt severely with changing monsoons and decreased rainfall amongst other changes. This article is eye-opening! Earth Day is a global reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability, taking action for a healthier planet and a bright future for all its inhabitants! This year's #earthday has a uniform theme worldwide - "planets vs. plastics," highlighting the negative impact single-use plastics have on our environment. How can you and your families, businesses & communities help reduce these plastics that are piling up in our landfills and our oceans? https://lnkd.in/e9rBJfv #earthday2024 #sustainability #africa #climatechange #environment

There's a new term around in the "climate wars" which is the "new denialists" who appear to be anyone who is in the "Don't Panic" school of climate science. Interested to find, reading his latest book that Dr Michael Mann, creator of the emblem of castrophism, the Hockey Stick graph, is in the "new denialist" camp. Maybe there is room for commonsense in the debate afterall. https://lnkd.in/gDUwcunx
