Two things I'm still internalising from this conversation: 1/ The insane rate of deployment of internal tools in the restaurant, thanks to (a) owning the whole stack (b) AI making code so much easier... just huge compounding improvements + learning there. (plus - you can capture more margin as the owner vs the mere software provider)...Sam Lessin and Yoni Rechtman make this point re the benefits of 'AI first buy-outs' as well. 2/ I ended up going deeper on the rabbithole of franchises and came across some great case studies (ie Burger King's buyout by 3G Capital, which turned a $1B investment into $28B+ in value via the franchising model) - (h/t Ted Seides & Alex Behring) - https://lnkd.in/ein4cAhA Franchises are capital efficient, highly scalable, and, if done right, can have compounding margins (and unlock serious entrepreneurial opportunities in the 'middle market', ie check out The Wolf of Franchises).

The react episodes of The Startup Podcast are some of my favorite things this year. Currently, listening to the latest episode "AI Takes Over YC, VCs Apologize to Founders, Elon Crashes Tesla," and literally have jumped off my seat due to some of the comments. Really recommend it for those working in the space. 1 - Closed source vs. Open source, closed waiting vs. open waiting conversation. So good! 2 - A system with multiple models that is personal to you. At SundayAI we think of it as a system of multiple models that is personal to your business. Again, had me jumping off my seat. 3 - Nest Cam statement and its potential impact on training models of their collective data. Another great episode by Chris Saad. This podcast needs some sort of award!
