Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Sustainable Development Goals | SDG Champion | Experienced Health Professional
Last Wednesday, I had the opportunity to speak at the Swiss-Nigerian Business Council Meeting, where I addressed how challenges like corruption, lack of public trust, and weak institutional capacity hinder the execution of good policies in Nigeria. A key point of discussion at the meeting was how, in Switzerland, a large percentage of people pursue vocational training, which has created a thriving network of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that drive their economy. This highlights the need for Nigeria to shift its focus from formal education to vocational training to similarly boost its own economy. I then shared how through the SDGs (4, 8, 9, 10 and 16), we can build a transparent, accountable system where policy implementation is efficient, inclusive, and digitised to reduce errors, streamline processes and promote efficiency. As I am wont to do, I equally emphasised the critical role of partnerships (SDG 17) in ensuring that policies continue beyond political cycles and deliver long-term results. It was also great to reconnect with Mr. Frank Eggmann, Switzerland’s Consul-General in Lagos, at the event and it is my hope that the Swiss-Nigerian business community will align with Lagos State’s SDG-driven development agenda so that together, we can create a resilient economy, reduce inequality, and foster sustainable growth for businesses and the society at large. #OreoluwaFinnih #SustainableDevelopment #SDG17 #PartnershipsForTheGoals #DecentWork #VocationalTraining

During the next two decades, around $84 TRILLION will pass onto the next generation: the greatest transfer of wealth in history. The cutting-edge ideas and technologies at the fingertips of today's youth, especially in an African context where the shift is happening at an even faster speed, give you an idea of the palpable potential of what is coming. Philanthropy has an incredible opportunity to harness this moment and nurture the potential of young African entrepreneurs and visionaries. It was an honor and a real pleasure to visit Abuja this week as a speaker at the 30th Nigerian Economic Summit— the largest gathering of private, public, and development leaders in the country— of which Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA) was a corporate sponsor. I joined Dr. Juliet Ehimuan, Founder of Beyond Limits Africa, Uche Amaonwu, Interim Director, Nigeria Country Office at Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Eniola Mafe-Abaga, Global Advocacy and Partnerships Director at Bridges to Prosperity, on the panel: "Shaping Africa's Innovation Frontiers: Entrepreneurship, Ecosystem & Governance," and was delighted to host a mentorship event with incredible women leaders working in philanthropy in Nigeria. In short, we must prioritize three areas: 1️⃣ 🔎 Helping partners identify problems, solutions, and the people and organizations best positioned to deliver change. 2️⃣ 📊 Gathering intelligence—data, insight, and perspective—to inform who, where and how we can help. 3️⃣ 📈 Monitoring results, outputs, and outcomes to better make the case in the future. Looking forward to what is to come! #NES30 #SustainableDevelopment #EconomicOpportunity Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG)

The Vision Effect: Why Your Team Must Own Your Business Dream 2 weeksago, I led the session on Vision and Goal Setting at the Young Africa Innovate Program in Sunyani. As I shared my insights at the UNDP Ghana Young Africa Innovate Project in Sunyani, one key message resonated deeply: the importance of sharing your business vision with your team. A successful entrepreneur knows that their vision is only as strong as the team behind it. When your team feels part of the vision, they become invested in achieving it. This collective ownership is the spark that drives motivation, collaboration, and ultimately, business success. As Innovators we should be clear on the Vision we envision and set clear goals and plans to achieve, then ALWAYS REMEMBER, OUR TEAM is our greatest asset. We should Share our vision, inspire their ownership, and watch our business THRIVE Watch Excerpts of the Session, A longer one will be posted on YouTube By end of Month. #Marketing #digitalmarketing #visionmapping #goalsetting #UNDP NEIP Innovation hapaSpace Collaborative Hub Hapaweb Solutions GIZ Ghana Guzakuza Africa
