📢 I am thrilled to announce that this week Detroit Future City released a report we did in partnership with Data Driven Detroit with funding from the Gilbert Family Foundation, shedding light on a critical issue impacting wealth creation and housing stability in Detroit: Heir's properties. 📊 Heirs' properties are properties passed on through generations but without the formal legal transfer of the property. We found over 5,500 heirs' properties in Detroit valued at almost $270M. Without a formal, legal transfer, the titles on these homes can become tangled, preventing the heir from realizing the intergenerational wealth that can come from homeownership or accessing key resources like tax foreclosure prevention.
