Luxury consumption is driven by narratives. This is not to say there is no intrinsic value in a luxury product or service, but what makes people want it, dream of it, sometimes crave it, is an idea, an ideal, a story they have digested and keep running in their heads. Luxury brands do not necessarily target only one segment, as they have become a progressively global phenomenon that requires volume in addition to value. During this episode of Lux and Friends Podcast, I had the pleasure of sitting with Eliott Collin, a private equity financier with previous experience in top positions at companies like Cartier and Christian Dior Couture. Here, Elliot explains how brands adopt different narratives to communicate with a diverse clientele and what sets them apart.
