Need some help with your resume? Here are a few tips that can help you customize your resume for maximum impact: 1️⃣ HEADING - Ensure your resume includes your full name, complete address with ZIP code, both day and evening phone numbers with area codes, and an email address. 2️⃣ OBJECTIVE - Be specific about your career objective, ensuring it aligns with the job(s) you're applying for. 3️⃣ EXPERIENCE - List your employer's name (including unit/squadron if relevant) and location, along with your job title and the starting and ending dates (month and year). 4️⃣ DUTIES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS - Use bulleted lists or brief paragraphs to detail your duties, skills, and achievements relevant to the job. Concentrate on the last decade of experience, summarizing older roles. 5️⃣ EDUCATION - List high school and college/university names and locations. Include majors for degrees earned and anticipated graduation year for ongoing studies. If you're a recent grad, mention your GPA. 6️⃣ OTHER QUALIFICATIONS - Include job-related training courses (title and year), skills, certificates, licenses, and honors/awards. 7️⃣ SECURITY REQUIREMENTS - Specify your security clearance level (Secret or Top Secret) and its last use date (separation or retirement date). Tips to creating an effective federal resume.

To jobseekers in the military community… A federal resume is needed when you are applying to roles on USAJobs or with a Federal Agency (the requisition will clearly state this). Companies outside of the government want your resume tailored to the position. It should be no more than two pages, and it should include relevant experience and education for the position to which you are applying. A CV is short for Curriculum Virtae and is a detailed record of your academic achievements. It’s not “Civilian Version” of your resume. So when you apply to a job at a company, corporation, nonprofit, et cetera, please attach a tailored resume (max of two pages) when you do so. Not a CV. Not a Federal Resume. Just a (maximum) two page tailored resume for the position you’re applying to.
