Check out the freshly published Horizon Europe strategic plan (2025 – 2027) that starts giving attention to #onehealth ! For example, the anticipated impact of Cluster 6 - Food, Bio-economy, natural resources, agriculture and environment, as described on on p. 121, aims to contributes to achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement on climate change and of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Cluster 6 is crucial for achieving the ambitions of the European Green Deal, contributing to the dimensions outlined below and their related policies. The implementation of unifying approaches through R&I, including the One Health approach, is fundamental for Cluster 6 to deliver impactful results. At the beginning of June, World Environment Day was commemorated, and we didn't want to let this important milestone go unnoticed. One of the five core principles of the Round Table on Responsible Soy Association (RTRS) Standard is environmental responsibility, with indicators dedicated to protecting ecosystems and biodiversity. This principle focuses on: • Preserving areas of high conservation value • Zero deforestation  • Sustainable soil and water management  • Minimizing the environmental impact of soy production We firmly believe that agricultural production should not compromise the health of our planet. Through these indicators, we work to ensure that every soybean produced under our standard not only meets the highest sustainability criteria but also helps protect natural resources for future generations. In this special month, we invite everyone to reflect on the importance of responsible agricultural practices and join us in promoting a more sustainable and equitable world. ⚠️A new WWF report shows that, every year, EU Member States are channelling an astonishing €34-48 billion into activities that harm nature. 🚜Shockingly, up to 60% of the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) funding —that’s more than €32 billion— is detrimental to nature while failing to support the farmers. 🐝Redirecting these harmful subsidies is not only urgent but also entirely feasible. Doing so could help bridge the €18 billion annual financing gap required to meet the EU’s 2030 Biodiversity Strategy targets 🗳️ It's time for a major policy shift! It's all connected! Today, as we mark the International Day of Biodiversity (IDB), let's focus on how 'when one tugs at a single thing in nature, they find it attached to the rest of the world' - John Muir. Without proper management of materials and investment in sustainable development, many elements of our environment suffer. As earth's caretakers we(human beings) continue to create many challenges for the biodiversity of our planet, but we can still get back on track. A growing number of firms are being linked to land use and biodiversity controversies, and the food product industry is the biggest offender, according to a recent Morningstar Sustainalytics report: https://bit.ly/3OBhGRA Industrial activities have led to biodiversity loss on a global scale. If we continue to consume food in an unsustainable way, biodiversity loss will continue to increase with severe consequences for people and the planet. That is why I am proud to collaborate in publications such as this one, in which a group of experts has joined forces and shared knowledge to provide recommendations that guide governments and other decision-makers to prioritize the development of sustainable food systems and enhance the capacity of developing countries to implement them. We hope our efforts can support the implementation of the UN Biodiversity Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF), particularly its #Target16 calling for enabling sustainable consumption choices and food waste to be reduced by half by 2030.
