The Vernier machine represents the latest generation of PM machines, operating on modulation effects that are not yet widely adopted in the industry. Currently, there are three distinct PM machines in use: two Vernier machines and one standard PMSM. The Vernier machines are distinguished by their gear ratios of 3.8 and 11. These models are optimized for high-power applications at the MW level. It is observed that the speed of changing the magnetic field is higher in higher gear ratios. Higher gear ratios reduce the risk of saturation, while lower gear ratios result in lighter machinery. One potential avenue to explore could be a novel engine design that utilizes an alternative combustion process or energy source compared to traditional piston engines. Here are a few ideas to consider: 1. Vortex or Swirl-Based Engine: - Instead of the typical back-and-forth piston motion, the engine could be designed to harness the power of a controlled vortex or swirling air/fuel mixture. - This could potentially improve combustion efficiency and reduce emissions by optimizing the air-fuel interaction and mixing. - Innovative turbine or rotary designs could be explored to achieve this vortex-based combustion. 2. Plasma-Assisted Combustion Engine: - The engine could use plasma ignition or plasma-assisted combustion to initiate and sustain the burning of the fuel-air mixture. - Plasma technology has shown potential for improving combustion stability, efficiency, and emissions reduction in experimental settings. - Developing a practical and scalable plasma-based engine system could be a novel approach. 3.
