Continuing the discussion of brands supporting military causes, sometimes the military-centric organization is the catalyst behind the support programs. Soldiers' Angels provides aid, comfort, and resources to the military, veterans, and their families. Through the Soldiers’ Angels Hops for Heroes campaign, the organization rallies support of breweries and home brewers to brew a custom recipe, Homefront IPA (or other Homefront beer), and donate the net proceeds to Soldiers’ Angeles to support US service members, veterans, and their families. Breweries from across the nation sign up to brew their support. This year’s brewery participants include independent and veteran-owned businesses*: 1700 Brewing: Newport News, VA* Alamo Brewing Company: San Antonio, TX Alexandria Brewing Company, LLC: Alexandria, KY* Billsburg Brewery: Williamsburg, VA BUGNUTTY BREWING COMPANY LLC: Cocoa, FL* Center of the Universe Brewing Company: Ashland, VA Down Range Brewery: Canutillo, TX* Friendship Brewing and Distilling Company: Wentzville, MO Great Chicago Fire Brewery & Tap Room: Leesburg, FL Karbach Brewing Co.: Houston, TX West Side Brewing: Cincinnati, OH Breweries participate for a number of reasons. Veterans give back to the military community. Others may not have a military connection, other than a desire to support those who serve. Or maybe they just decided it’s the right thing to do. What drives participation may be altruistic, but there are longer tail marketing benefits, also. Knowing that a brewery supports military causes, chances are the consumer would be more likely to consider trying other offerings from the brewery. It’s a simple blueprint. A brand supports the military. The military community takes note and supports the brand. Wonder what would happen if Anheuser-Busch or MillerCoors would participate in the program. #MilitaryMarketing #Military #Marketing #MilitaryAppreciation

Really interesting article that is definitely worth a read if you want to understand why we are where we are today (from a food perspective).
I hadn't heard of Nicholas Saunders but what a legacy he created in Monmouth Coffee and Neal's Yard. I have always been interested in understanding how we moved from the rubbish food of the post-war period to where we are today and this is a piece of the puzzle I hadn't discovered. Definitely worth a read.... https://lnkd.in/eygy_vZG

As Mardi Gras approaches, it's a reminder of the vibrant cultures and traditions that enrich our workplaces. This festival teaches us about creativity, diversity, and the power of community. Speaking of the power of community, let me share a Mardi Gras story that goes beyond the beads and bands. Back in 1983, when I was just starting up my oil business in Wichita, Kansas, I found myself in a pinch. I needed to secure a hefty $300,000 deposit to purchase several oil assets from Texaco, and despite my best efforts, I was coming up short. In a last-ditch effort, I placed an ad in the local newspaper seeking investors. The response I got was nothing short of a Mardi Gras miracle. A gentleman called me after seeing the ad, visited my office, and – to my utter disbelief – handed me a check for the full amount later that day. But here's where it gets even more incredible: when I tried to repay him, none of my checks were cashed. His act of kindness was a rare gift that propelled me forward during a challenging time. It was as if, through him, a higher power was affirming the ethos of Mardi Gras – community support and generosity. This experience has stayed with me, reminding me that the spirit of Mardi Gras isn't confined to one day or place. It's in the acts of empathy we extend to one another, in the ways we support our colleagues, and in the culture of giving that we cultivate. In the spirit of Mardi Gras, let's not just celebrate our diversity; let's actively support and uplift each other in our workplaces and beyond. How will you bring the spirit of Mardi Gras into your professional life this year? #Generosity #CommunitySupport #MardiGrasMiracle #DiversityAndInclusion #MardiGras #WorkplaceCulture
