It was wonderful to see everyone who braved the icy roads to join us at our annual investor roundtable event! John Mitchell delivered an informative (and lyrical) economic recap and forecast, and our panel speakers Charlie Kokernak, Greg Frick and Tyler Johnson provided unique insights into the challenges investors faced last year and the road ahead in 2024. Thank you to Ironlight for hosting us — the sweeping views of frosted tree limbs and misty PNW forests were the perfect backdrop to our panel discussion about the appeal and future of the region’s multifamily market. For those who were iced-in, stay tuned for event footage from our friends at The AV Department! Special thanks to our event sponsors Pacific Exteriorsnw, Gantry, and J.R. Johnson, LLC. #multifamily #apartmentinvesting #cre #multifamilyindustry #multifamilyinvesting

I am personally thankful to Laura for encouraging me to step beyond my self-imposed boundaries and face my speech fright. A few months ago she asked me to give a presentation on zoning research. My initial response was panic after my last knee-shaking presentation in college. But she gave me the push I needed to realize my greater potential, and after much planning, preparing, and practicing, I did it! I spoke for 30 minutes, and although the nerves were still there, my presentation was an overall success! I learned three valuable lessons: 1) EVERYONE has at least one quality of an effective speaker. If you are a shy introvert like me, you have empathy to understand your audience and tailor your presentation to engage them. You can also reframe your approach, thinking of presenting as an opportunity to teach and help. 2) Fear is ego-driven. When you shift the focus from self to serving others, you open space for empowerment, focus, and confidence. 3) Accepting even just one challenge opens the door to other opportunities as you build upon new skills and become more comfortable embracing the unknown. I still have much to learn, but am incredibly grateful to Laura and the Valbridge Women's Council for promoting personal and professional growth.
As the Business Development and Technology Manager with Valbridge Property Advisors | Northern California, Laura Hulberg is no stranger to public speaking. Still, she was able to fine-tune her skills with the Valbridge Women’s Council (VWC) public speaking class. Discover how she transformed her approach to presentations, structuring them for clarity and maximizing impact: https://lnkd.in/e5HfYt6x #commercialrealestate #CRE #appraisals #ValbridgePropertyAdvisors

We had an excellent strategic planning session, where we identified four key pillars to focus on: business retention, expansion, attraction, and organizational strength. We're excited to continue this strategic planning journey and drive impactful growth together. #GrowSouthCoast, #StrategicPlanning, #SCDC, #BusinessGrowth, #OrganizationalStrength
Founder, A. Hart Associates ~ Strategic business consultant helping leaders move their vision forward, faster.
Today I’m working with South Coast Development Council (SCDC) in beautiful Coos Bay, OR to craft their next strategic plan. SCDC is working to build a thriving and diversified business community on the Southern Oregon Coast by promoting and supporting businesses that provide quality jobs through responsible development. I’m excited because there is so much opportunity for economic development in this community. I have already been working closely with Executive Director Lexie Woodward, CEcD, PCED to analyze the opportunities and challenges facing the organization, and to identify what it will take to move from where SCDC is currently toward an ideal future. In our session with the board today, our focus will be on setting priorities by driving consensus around high-level focus areas and objectives that will serve the forward moment of the organization and community.
