Gender-affirming care is a supportive form of healthcare. It consists of an array of services that may include medical, surgical, mental health, and non-medical services for transgender and nonbinary people. For transgender and nonbinary children and adolescents, early gender-affirming care is crucial to overall health and well-being as it allows the child or adolescent to focus on social transitions and can increase their confidence while navigating the healthcare system. Each of us should be able to live, work, and make decisions about our health and our future with access to resources and support. People, not politicians, should have the freedom to make their own decisions. Tell lawmakers to oppose bans on gender-affirming care. Take Action Here: https://p2a.co/ojvvlah

We look forward to this VITALS: Disability Health Equity Panel, “Reimagining Disability as a Strength in Healthcare” not only due to its importance but also because it features one of our faculty, Dr. Julia Knopes, as one of the four panelists! Her expertise promises to add a valuable perspective to an already important topic. With over 20% of Americans living with a disability, there remains a need to address issues within medical school curriculums, hospital resources, clinical accommodations, and treatment protocols. Presently, only 3.1% of practicing physicians have a disability, but physician diversity can positively impact patient care and overall medical practice. #DisabilityInclusion #PhysiciansWithDisabilities #HealthcareEquity #PatientCare #DisabilityAwareness #DisabilityRights #HealthcareDisparities
The CWRU Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusive Excellence will host a VITALS discussion panel, titled “Reimagining Disability as a Strength in Healthcare," on Dec. 8. The event will feature 4 panelists will discuss the need to heighten awareness of advancements and disparities in healthcare among physicians and patients with disabilities. https://brnw.ch/21wF0mD
