What an empowering afternoon we had at today's Fireside Chat on 𝗨𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘀. 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘀𝗵𝗮 and 𝗙𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮 𝗛𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘁 led a powerful discussion that delved deep into the unique challenges and incredible triumphs women encounter in the mining industry. We confronted uncomfortable truths, spotlighting crucial issues like psychological safety, the embrace of technology, adaptability, work-life balance, and the pivotal role of leadership in fostering inclusivity. Your voices sparked vital conversations that are long overdue. Yes, biases still exist, but so do incredible opportunities for advocacy. To all the women in mining: let’s be fearless, speak up, and uplift one another. It’s time to make our presence undeniable and ensure no woman stands alone. Together, we can rewrite the narrative and cultivate a mining industry where every woman's voice is not only heard but celebrated. Angela and Fatima, thank you for reminding us that our adaptability and unity are our greatest strengths. Together, we rise. #WiMSA #WiMSAsymposium #WomenInMiningSouthAfrica #Mining #WomenInMining #WomenSupportingWomen #ForgeYourFutureFearlessly #MiningConference #ForgeForward #Empowerment #Inspiration #Leadership #Innovation #MiningIndustry

🌟 Empowered Women, Empower Mining🌟 As a proud woman in the mining industry, I’m excited to share my journey and the incredible experiences I’ve had along the way. The mining sector is not just about extracting resources; it’s about forging connections, driving innovation, and creating sustainable futures. From my start in 2002 as a Shaft helper to my current position as a Managing Director of Rosebells Trading Pty. I've faced challenges and triumphs that have shaped my career. Advocacy for diversity and inclusion has become a cornerstone of my mission because it's clear that when diverse voices come together, we can overcome any obstacle and unlock new potential. 💪 Here are some key lessons I've learned: 1. Be Bold. Don't be afraid to voice your ideas and take on leadership roles. Your perspective is invaluable. 2. Network Wisely. Building relationships within and beyond the industry opens doors to opportunities and collaborations. 3. Support Each Other. 🌟 Transforming the Mining Industry: The Power of Diversity! 🌟 Did you know? Companies with higher gender diversity on their boards outperform others by 26%! 💪🎯 In a recent conversation with an executive at Implats, I discovered just how pivotal women are in revitalizing the mining sector. Historically dominated by men, the mining industry is embracing a game-changing transformation. At Impala Platinum, efforts to integrate more women have not only enriched the workplace culture but have also led to enhanced innovation, better decision-making, and notably improved safety standards. 👷♀️💡 Key Insights: - Innovation and Productivity: With unique perspectives, women often approach problem-solving in innovative ways that significantly boost productivity. - Enhanced Safety: Mines with more female employees tend to exhibit superior safety records. - Bridging Skills Shortages: The industry faces a talent crunch, with about 40% of the workforce nearing retirement. Women are crucial to filling this gap and sustaining the sector. Implats is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every employee's growth is nurtured. This isn't just the right approach, it's a strategic imperative for enduring success. 🚀 How Can We Make Other Industries Follow Suit? I'd love to hear your thoughts! How do we encourage more industries to embrace diversity as a pathway to success? #WomenInMining #GenderDiversity #Innovation #SafetyFirst #SkillShortage #Leadership #InclusiveWorkplace #MiningIndustry #DiversityInSTEM #FutureOfWork #ImpalaPlatinum

Happy International Women in Mining Day! Today, we celebrate the incredible women who are breaking barriers and making strides in the mining industry. From geologists to engineers, from operators to executives, women are shaping the future of mining with their skills, innovation, and leadership. Let’s acknowledge their achievements, support their journeys, and inspire the next generation of women to pursue careers in mining. Together, we can build a more inclusive and diverse industry that benefits everyone. We also want to take a moment to raise awareness about the importance of women’s safety in mine camps. Ensuring safe and respectful work environments is crucial for the well-being of women working in remote mining areas – especially Indigenous women and women of color. Addressing these concerns through policies and practices that promote safety and respect is essential for fostering a more inclusive industry.
