An interesting article and great to see industry intent to develop benefits to those in need. Some interesting parallels with the Veterans Agenda - especially in view of the recent launch of Operation Prosper. The Office of Veterans Affairs will hopefully endure if there is a change in Government - if not, then where does the momentum come from to tackle inequalities for those who resettle from the Armed Forces?

Excited to share something truly close to our hearts at ThreeSixtyEight! 🌟 Over the last few months, we’ve teamed up with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber and Visit Baton Rouge to build the "Better in BTR" campaign—a campaign initiative aimed at showcasing why Baton Rouge is a prime destination for young professionals to call home. Last Thursday, we got to watch the campaign go officially live in front of hundreds of people at the Better in BTR launch party. The energy of the crowd will be a moment I’ll never forget as I felt the pride of our city come together. We were proud because we now have a shared answer to a question we’ve been asked frequently by others and even to ourselves … Why live in Baton Rouge? We know that home is more than just a place with numerous employment opportunities—it's about quality of life. That’s why our campaign goes beyond showcasing top employers; it also highlights the unique and diverse communities, neighborhoods, and recreational activities Baton Rouge offers. What truly sets our city apart, however, is the sense of belonging instilled by our community. Those who move here and choose to stay quickly discover how deeply they can connect and how difficult it becomes ever to leave. For the last two years, I’ve sent out a Google doc to hundreds of people with all the communities to join, people to meet, and things to do. Now, I’m so proud there’s a resource that can be shared by all that showcases what makes our city great. We can now answer with confidence - THIS is why we live in Baton Rouge. Check out the campaign site here: www.betterinbtr.com Use the site to explore our city. Use the site to find the right neighborhood for you. Share the site with others mulling if they should move here. Share the site with others who think BTR has nothing to do. Share the site with others looking for communities to join. If anything, come talk to me about BTR. Yes, we have some issues like other cities have, but this is a city I know YOU can make a difference in. My physical and digital door is always open to have this discussion. And yes, this is only the beginning of the campaign. If you have any stories about why your life is better in BTR, please share them in the comments! #talentattraction #talent #batonrouge #betterinbtr #economicdevelopment

Exciting developments in the works at IN:WA to help our independent business members thrive
IN:WA BOARD UPDATE With a short break between our events for members and community, our board have been focussed on other pillars including Representation and Education. The IN:WA board gathered recently to discuss and decide on key items that we are planning and working on in the background. While there are some wins to celebrate with a healthy and growing membership and high engagement from members and our wider community, there is also more work to be done. High on the agenda at this board meeting: 🧑🏫 Education pilot program A unique opportunity for members to access international education and training modules through a pilot program that we will announce soon. 📣 Representation of the sector A strategy to guide our approach to representing the sector to government and corporates in WA, and the first moves to deliver our messages and requests. 🤝 Partnership with other orgs Increased visibility leads to increased interest, and we are working on our collaboration approach so we can help organisations similar to our own for the greater good of the communications and creative sector in WA. Big thanks goes to our board members for their commitment and time. Chaired by Jeff Champtaloup of braincells, our board includes Ivona Gaspar of Juicebox, John Petkovic of Workhouse, Ben De Jonge of The Cut, Mark Braddock of Block, Claire Aindow of equ and Nanda Gunnink of Studio Orange. And special mention to our member, Anthony Hasluck from Clarity Communications for his excellent work on the Representation strategic plan. 🙏

Screenshot from a GWCN: Global Walkability Correspondents Network chapters meeting yesterday! GWCN is now 2 1/2 years old & is dedicated as a space for networking among people passionate about championing issue of #walkability. As a network, we also began supporting the development of local chapters & it is super exciting to see network members around the world take agency of a GWCN chapter in their community for diverse activities related to walking & walkability. Yesterday was typical of the geographic diversity we usually have at meetings (also being mindful of the time- 18.00 CET & that we cannot accommodate all time zones in one meeting, so have different meetings at different times each month to accommodate members in all world regions). Yesterday Cori Dahl shared updates from the chapter she leads- GWCN Chicago. She is also planning chapter summer activities & open to local collaborations so if you are working with, researching, advocating for issues of walkability (to include access to quality public transportation) in Chicago please feel free to connect. We also heard from both Omer KILIC, MSc & Ayse Umay Gezer who are both local city leaders in the national GWCN Turkey Chapter that Istanbul-based Merve Özhan leads. Vanny K Mwamba is fresh back in Ohio from his return to Congo & raised the ever-interesting question of how we adapt our advocacy to different areas, contexts, cultures & situation. 'Advocacy is a spectrum'. Also check out his profile for more on his recently released film 'Why We Walk'. Laura Walsh, ActiveScore AP shared (in most engaging narrative ways) the frustration & anger of fearing for our life as pedestrians that so many of us know, experience, have experienced- emotions that I think are also vital to share as part of advocacy Zvi Leve, MSc shared some interesting reflections on the state of underground space in Montréal & (like Laura) also sharing reflections on living #carfree for many many years & living the example that it can be done. 1st GWCN newsletter coming out next month: Subscribe to the LinkedIn newsletter here: https://lnkd.in/dwWFxmxQ Special Editions of the existing Pedestrian Space Newsletter will also be published focused exclusively on GWCN activities. As we prepare to embark on the Youth-Led Road to Rights Bus Tour, we are reminded of the powerful foundation set out in the Preamble to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). The Preamble emphasises the inherent dignity, worth, and equality of every child and the critical importance of nurturing them in an environment of love, security, and understanding. These principles drive our work and will guide the discussions during this tour, as young people engage in workshops on their rights, youth voice, climate, and transport. Our journey represents more than just a tour; it’s a step toward embedding the UNCRC into domestic law. Incorporation ensures that the principles in the Preamble—protecting children from poverty, homelessness, and neglect—become actionable commitments, not just ideals. This is about ensuring every child’s right to be heard, to grow up in safety, and to thrive. Let’s take this journey together, paving the way for a future where children’s rights are at the heart of our policies and practices. #UNCRC #ChildrensRights #YouthVoice #RoadToRights #SocialJustice
All roads lead to Belfast Grand Central Station next Friday for the final stop on the #RoadToRightsBusTour 🚌 We can’t wait to welcome children and young people to the events – in partnership with Translink, Northern Ireland Youth Forum and the Translink Youth Forum – in Newry, Enniskillen, Derry-Londonderry, Magherafelt and Belfast next week. 👀 Keep an eye out on our socials throughout the week for updates from the event… and, if you’re on the road, keep your eyes peeled for Chris Quinn’s car, which will be getting a very special NICCY makeover 🚗

In November 2023, Safe to Create's ‘Governance and Dignity at Work in Ireland’s Arts and Creative Sectors’ survey asked Chairs, Board Members, Trustees, and Executive/Senior Management to reflect on their level of knowledge and experience of Dignity at Work policy and process from a Governance perspective. Respondents were asked to share their own experiences and reflections on practices in the organisations they work. The analysis of these responses - Influencing Change: Pathways to Dignity at Work Through Good Governance - launches today and is available to download from the Safe to Create website. The research has evidenced the positive appetite in the sector for good governance but it has also identified areas of concern. This piece of research will assist Safe to Create in the development of further toolkits, guidelines, training and other materials designed to promote Dignity at Work across the arts and creative sectors. Read the Report: https://loom.ly/NSggB_I SAFE TO CREATE is a Dignity at Work programme. It is managed by Irish Theatre Institute , in partnership with the Arts Council, Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland and Minding Creative Minds , on behalf of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media . #SafeToCreate #DignityAtWork #InfluencingChange
