Happy Women’s Equity Day! At Vetsource, we love to see the growing number of women entering STEM jobs! Women’s Equity Day celebrates women’s suffrage with the passing of the 19th Amendment. However, just as it is important to recognize that women of color were denied access to the polls until the Voting Rights Act of 1965, it is also important to recognize the added barriers that women of color face in STEM today. On this Women's Equity Day, as we celebrate the advancement of ALL women, we encourage you to learn about some incredible women of color advancing STEM fields and the Society of STEM Women of Color. Then, ask yourself, what can I do to advance women in STEM today?

Today, I had the incredible opportunity to explore how we can make the public sector a place where EVERYONE feels like they truly belong. One key takeaway that struck a chord with me? The notion that "no" is simply a temporary pause, not a permanent roadblock – “no is just a no for today”.  When we encounter obstacles or resistance in our quest to create a more inclusive environment, it's essential to remember that every setback is just a steppingstone on the path to progress. Sometimes, you must go back and reframe, reimagine, and reignite our commitment to fostering belonging in the workplace. I come from an industry that is predominantly powered by #women However, even today, most industries are dominated by men. In 2022, #data collected from the International Labour Organization concluded that, out of 180 countries - the #unitedstates ranks number 71 for % of women in the workforce. The percentage of women in the #workforce in the U.S is 46.38% Women remain #underrepresented at all levels, in most industries.
