Yesterday, 26th August, in USA there was the National Women's Equality Day in celebration of introducing 19th Amendment in 1920 which granted women the right to vote. This was something our grandmothers and great-grandmothers fighted for for a long time and what spearheaded other changes for gender equality. As much as we are not yet where we want to be with equal pay, parent leave, flexible working, equal access to job opportunities or even visibility of role models, we certainly have much more than women at the beginning of 20th century. This is something to be truly grateful for. So, thank you our grandmothers and great-grandmothers for all your hard work. Thank you to all the people that fight for equality every day. Together we are stronger! #women #retail #equality #righttovote #womenequalityday #leadership #rolemodels #flexibleworking #femaleleaders #femalefounders #womeninretail #womenofretail

Today is Equal Pay Day, a powerful reminder that the fight for gender equality in the workplace is far from over. On average, women still earn only 82 cents for every dollar earned by men. This gap is even wider for women of color and other marginalized groups. This means women have to work for almost 15 months to earn what men make in 12 months. It's time to close this gap once and for all. Let's advocate for fair wages, transparency, and equal opportunities for all. Together, we can build a future where everyone is paid what they deserve. #EqualPayDay #CloseTheGap #PayEquity Watch our latest vlog on Leveling the Playing Field - Equal Pay: https://bit.ly/3VdZCRC

At IKEA, we believe equality starts at home. We also believe in equitability in the workplace, and so we celebrate the breaking down of stereotypes. Did you know that women are still doing up to three times more unpaid care and domestic work than men, according to the OECD? The IKEA Life at Home Report shows that many women say they do more household chores than those they live with. For a healthier, more equal society, everyone deserves a fair playing ground. We’re better together. What does gender equality look like in your every day? #IWD2024

Sometimes, men don’t know what to do to be allies to women in the workplace – but if we show them HOW – it makes a huge difference. Here is something men can do to be allies to women in the workplace: Recognize and Leverage Your Influence First and foremost, acknowledge the platform you have. Men, particularly those in positions of authority, wield significant influence. It's vital to use this influence to advocate for policies and practices that promote gender equality. This means not just opening doors for women into leadership roles but also ensuring those doors stay wide open for others to follow. Want to learn more?
