Thank you National Diversity Council, Emily Pfister and Anika Rahman for inviting me to be a part of such a dynamic event! Such an honor! Jenn Zephirin, Narges Kakalia, Mariela Orochena, Tamra Billinghurst-Black, MBA and Jessica Palacios (No Sales Solicitations) - you are each incredible and I am inspired by all of you. And Keti Mehta, PCC your facilitation and moderation is at a whole new level! Bravo to you! So many important takeaways from your personal stories such as: - Make sure to amplify your inner voice - "Your value doesn't decrease when other people have an inability to see who you are" - The two top skills that determine success are "taking action" and "striving to achieve" - Make sure that you have mentors that are like you and see the world how you do, mentors that are different to you and can guide you in a different way, and strategic mentors (similar to sponsors) who can advocate for you in a room when you aren't there - Don't hide your intersectionality - it's what makes you unique and is your superpower - Try using the power of storytelling over traditional training sometimes as people truly remember and internalize personal stories - And so many tips to help take the bias out of recruitment I cannot even name them all
