ADHD and Gut Health.... If you have ADHD the chances are that you have at some stage in your life been diagnosed with IBS. If this is you, I'd love you to comment below. Research into ADHD and the gut microbiome is growing but is not yet mature. Preliminary findings show that individuals with ADHD have reduced diversity. Research into other mental health conditions such as Autism have clearly shown links between severity of symptoms and gut microbiome imbalance. So much so that there is now talk of diagnosing Autism via a stool test (which measures your gut microbiome). Earlier this year I conducted my own research and at least 80% of the participants interviewed currently had poor gut health, or had at some point in their life been diagnosed with IBS. I don't love the diagnosis of IBS - it doesn't really tell you anything - but that is another post in an of itself! What we do know is that with ADHD comes an imbalance of neurotransmitters - not just dopamine, but potentially Serotonin, Noradrenaline and GABA (to name a few). And guess what.... The majority of our Serotonin, Dopamine and GABA are made in the gut. In my next online group programme, I will explain the ins and outs of the importance of gut health and the gut microbiome. Spots are limited so if you want to join in, save your spot today. I'll pop the link in the comments below. My next course starts on Monday 23 September at 12:30pm GMT. #adhd #adhdsupport #adhdcourse #onlinecourse #groupprogramme #nutritionaltherapy #guthealth
