🚶Burnout is real, and so is the pressure to always be “on.” Trust me, I have been there… We all have those days when everything feels like a struggle. You wake up tired, your mind is foggy, and the motivation you usually rely on is nowhere to be found. The emails pile up, tasks seem endless, and inspiration is a distant memory. 🔗 But, here’s the truth: It’s okay to feel this way, and we all have those days. 🔗 What I learned : With time, I have realised productivity isn’t measured by how hard you push when you’re already running on “empty.” You can’t pour from an empty cup. It’s about knowing when to rest, recharge, and refocus. 🔗 Here’s the method that always works for me: On days like this, I imagine if a loved one was going through such a time, what would I say to them, and treat them. H.A.L.T which means to stop, something that is not so much appreciated in today's hustle culture. But this acronym tells otherwise. H.A.L.T stands for Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired. It is said that a person might feel anxious because of one or a combination of more than one of the reasons mentioned above. So the next time whenever you start to feel anxious while performing your daily chores, you need to pause for a moment and assess your emotions. Taking your meals at the right time, venting out the excess energy that comes when you are angry, in constructive ways like exercising, punching a pillow or even cleaning might be helpful to get you more productive at your life in general. Loneliness and Tiredness too takes a toll on our bodies, so we need to make sure that we are keeping a check on our emotions at any point of time. After all, Life is a marathon and not a sprint and to run a marathon successfully, one needs to have a very good emotional quotient. Pushing through is a myth! Hustle culture? I see at least 10 posts daily preaching that lie. Let me be real with you: It's hurtful. I ask, what’s the rush, why in a hurry, why do you think there's no time left? In the book, When the Body Says No, by Dr. Gaber Mate, he wrote that when we don’t allow our bodies to rest, our bodies will do it for us and it won’t be the way we want it to be. As someone in a super competitive industry, I used to believe that constant pushing led to productivity. I was wrong! I learned that the hard way after burning out from ignoring my need to rest. Here's what I discovered: - Well-being trumps productivity. - 3-4 hours of deep focus > 9-10 hours of non-stop work. - Sleep, nutrition, exercise, loved ones >>> Everything else. And the hardest lesson? Slowing down isn't laziness! It's taking care of yourself to show up as your best self consistently. So, drink water, breathe, and tell yourself that you are doing enough!
