Healthcare Leader & Clinic Manager | MBA | Sports & Orthopedic Physical Therapist | Excellence in Leadership, Strategy & Operations | Consultant, Innovator & Analyst | Aspiring Executive
In healthcare and physical therapy, we often discuss compliance with our patients, but perhaps it's time to shift our focus to commitment. Marshall Goldsmith's quote perfectly encapsulates this idea: "When we do what we have to do - we are compliant. When we do what we choose to do - we are committed." Compliance implies merely following orders or instructions, but commitment goes beyond that. It involves active participation, dedication, and a willingness to go above and beyond to achieve goals. As PTs, we should strive to inspire commitment in our patients by fostering a sense of ownership and empowerment in their rehabilitation journey. When patients are committed, they are more likely to adhere to their treatment plans, engage in exercises outside of therapy sessions, and ultimately achieve better outcomes. Let's encourage commitment over mere compliance in our practice for the benefit of our patients' health and recovery. #PhysicalTherapy

Measurement-based care is essential for high-quality behavioral health care. Yet, even with measurement-based care in place, payers are often unsure if the treatments they’re paying for are effective. This may be inefficient and a waste of money and valuable clinical hours. I’m excited to share Two Chairs’ latest white paper: “Measurement-Based Care Works—When Done Right” which outlines best practices for measurement-based care and what health plans should look for when evaluating partners’ systems. When measurement-based care implementation is effective, it can lead to what our system needs most: better patient outcomes, higher-quality therapy, and greater accountability. https://lnkd.in/gAtwYVcF

Wellbeing expert & developer of Warwick Holistic Health Questionnaire. Helping organisations to evaluate wellbeing.
On Saturday I'm a speaker at the Craniosacral Therapy Association UK AGM. The title of my presentation is Evaluating Wellbeing - Measuring What Matters to Clients - the theme of the day is 'Connection'. Clinical evaluation is about the connection between clinician and client, about monitoring what is important to the client. This comes as part of the relationship established between the two and the way the client feels seen, heard and met. From the clinicians perspective using a patient reported outcome measure enables you to systematically evaluate the outcomes over time, staying connected to 'what was' and 'what is' for the client and for the duration of their treatment plan. Using the clients narrative alongside a validated measure can be a rigorous and great way to evidence the work you are doing. #craniosacraltherapy #clinicalevaluation #measuringwhatmatters #connectionmatters

Australian psychologists report positive attitudes towards routine patient monitoring; recognising its value in increasing patient engagement and improving patient outcomes. The barriers to outcome monitoring being more widely adopted are 1) the administrative burden for practitioners, 2) the perceived burden to patients and 3) not understanding how to interpret/translate outcomes in a meaningful way. These are the very barriers experienced by our founder and fellow practice owner, Dr Kiera Buchanan, in her practice Centre for Integrative Health. Recovery Metrics was born out of Dr Buchanan’s attempts to solve this problem in her own clinic. By integrating with practices’ current workflows & practice management systems and then automating the process of questionnaire administration, scoring, & analysis, Recovery Metrics has removed the barriers to outcome-based care. If your practice uses Halaxy, Powerdiary, or Nookal, get in touch with our support team and enquire about your eligibility to trial our integration with your current workflow and practice software. 🌟 Clinician Spotlight: Dr. Bobby Sasson, MD, MPH at UCI Health 🩺 "I've been using Abridge for a month now, and it's been a game-changer. Abridge significantly reduces my documentation time. I no longer worry about charts or making my notes sound good—Abridge does all that. It also reduces my mental effort, allowing me to focus more on my patients. It's there when I'm tired, and as someone who is detail-oriented, it ensures my notes are substantive and thorough. The History of Present Illness (HPI), Assessment & Plan (A&P), and Patient Visit Summary (PVS) sections have truly transformed my practice. HPI and A&P: As a PCP, we do a lot of small talk, and Abridge helps by capturing the salient information shared with me, organizing it in a readable way, and telling the patient's story beautifully. PVS: This feature is fantastic! It defines the plan nicely for the patient, which is helpful because my freestyle attempts are usually limited and bulleted. A colleague suggested I try Abridge, and I'm so glad I did. It's a game-changer, and I'd recommend it to any of my peers. My patients benefit too because they receive a detailed summary afterward, so they don't need to take notes."

When Dr. Cori E. McMahon, Psy.D., NCCE was asked, "In your words, what do the top providers do that leads to success for patients?" she provided some profound insights: "Top providers routinely do a few things that lead to success for their patients: •They regularly measure progress in treatment. •They very openly and actively discuss data in session with their patients - connecting the data to the patient’s life experiences and raising up the patient’s voice in treatment - enlisting active engagement in care. •They elicit honest feedback during every session, asking questions like ‘What did we miss?’ ‘What can we do better next time?’ ‘What really worked well this session?’ and normalizing the experience of being frustrated or unhappy so patients know it is ok to express those feelings; that it’s all in the service of working toward goals of overall improvement." This approach fosters a collaborative, transparent, empathetic environment, and empowers patients. #erphealth #mentalhealth #behavioralhealth
