Fundraising to support cancer patients through treatment with free gifts & wellbeing events - Chief Happiness Officer
You never know who is following your work, that is why I continually push out what the needs of cancer patients are and how supporting can help someone following a diagnosis in hospital. Loved that BBC Three Counties reached out to ask if they could interview me today about The Lewis Foundation UK - why it was started, how it supports cancer patients in hospital and the community via the SMILE events and why do you continue to keep going when your family is now ok. Great conversation and opportunity to spread the word about the mission to support as many people as possible diagnosed with cancer in the hospital settings providing support direct to the person who needs it. It’s almost 8 years of The Lewis April (7th April) and my passion to help others has not declined because with the support of the community it is so wonderful to see the difference that collectively can be made to help another despite not knowing them and possibly never crossing paths. Just 10 years ago, a #CLL diagnosis often meant chemotherapy and a shortened life expectancy. Today, thanks to groundbreaking research and innovative therapies, patients are experiencing significantly improved outcomes. Many patients now will no longer die from this terrible diagnosis. Through collaboration with industry, regulatory agencies, and the patient community, we've developed #targeted chemo-free treatments and utilized advanced testing like #MRD Minimal Residual Disease that help guide treatments. This progress has dramatically improved #overallsurvival and quality of life for CLL patients. On World CLL Day, I celebrate these wins and am proud to have contributed to these advancements. When faced with setbacks and the slow progress that is inevitable in our field, let's never lose sight of the impact our work has on patients' lives. Every step forward brings us closer to a world free from the burden of disease. #bloodcancer #oncology #medicaladvancements #patientadvocacy
