🔥 Environmental risks like extreme heat, air pollution, and wildfire smoke have devastating effects on children's health and development. 🌡️ Extreme heat causes the greatest mortality of all extreme weather events. However, the impacts are underestimated as heat-related mortality could be 30 times higher than currently recorded. 🚨 Heat warning services are provided to health decision-makers in only half of the affected countries, but they are expected to rapidly increase by 2027 under the #EarlyWarningsForAll initiative. 🎥 UNICEF

Focus on measuring heat stress using various physiological and environmental indicators to assess the effect of heat on the human body, resulting from exposure to temperature, humidity, wind speed and solar radiation.

This is a critical issue. We need to prioritize heat warning systems globally to protect vulnerable populations, especially children.

Very informative and wish its disseminated in schools and communities where such information can generate more engagement and mitigation and adaptation efforts!

Awareness is great for not taking actions by nations.
