Leadership Development Programmes – what difference are they making in South Africa? In a 2023 global study by the Josh Bersin Academy, found that only 25% of companies believed that Leadership Development was delivering high value to their organisations. In 60% of the companies the spending had declined to less than $500 per person per year on Management and Leadership Development (less than we spend on coffee per year in their opinion). Is this trend also true for South Africa? We have certainly seen a decline in the importance and budget allocated on Leadership Development programmes since the pandemic. Is this because the pandemic has shifted focus to restoring operations and worrying about employee burn-out and retention which led to moving Leadership Development to the back-burner? Or is this because the decision makers have not been seeing the positive impact of Leadership Development? Might it be that we are not measuring the impact? Or might it be that we don’t know how to measure the impact? Come and join us on Wednesday to discuss and explore these ideas! Our OD Talks involve lots of conversation and they are free to attend. The next one takes place on Wednesday 17 January from 09h00 - 10h30 (GMT+2). Register here: https://zurl.co/iLzx

Nurturing emerging leaders continues to be a growing trend among organizations. This strategic focus on leadership development significantly enhances the leadership pipeline by ensuring a steady flow of capable individuals ready to take on leadership roles. I often work with leaders through targeted training programs to build the confidence and skills of new leaders. One of the most requested topics is effective communication and with good reason.

We don't prepare our leaders for the real world. 90% of employees agree we're falling short. Our leaders can make strategic plans - but might struggle to connect with their teams. Skills should be taught to all leaders: - Empathy - Active Listening - Emotional Intelligence - Servant Leadership - Conflict Resolution - Communication Skills - Decision-Making - Time Management - Mentorship Integrating these skills into leadership training - We are not just leading… We are transforming our workplaces for a better future.
