Condor is re-inventing itself in 2024: In the tourism segment, where Condor has its DNA, the focus will be on the luxury segment. This will also help the airline to better utilise its premium seats. One thing is already clear: expansion is on the cards on long-haul routes, where Condor flies against the still young Lufthansa company Discover Airlines, among others. The long-haul fleet will grow to 18 jets by the end of 2024. By 2027, there will be 21 Airbus 330 Neo aircraft. "Then it could make sense to open a long-haul base in Düsseldorf," suggests Lesjak. The new seats are a great opportunity for Lesjak, who can look back on a good sales year in 2023: he also wants to attract business travellers to Condor in future and thus make even better use of Business Class. The brand-new long-haul jets will fly primarily to North America in summer 2024. 13 destinations in the USA and five in Canada are on the schedule.  #FVW #DestinationCanada #Condor

CityJet celebrated a milestone on 10-Jan-2024, 30 years since its first scheduled flight from Dublin to London City Airport on behalf of Virgin Atlantic. Since then, the regional airline has undergone many changes in its customer base, geographic focus, fleet, and ownership. However, it has continued to concentrate on operating services for other airlines. It is now a leading provider of wet lease regional jet capacity across Europe. The airline's headquarters are in Dublin, and it also has a planning unit in London, but the majority of its employees are in Denmark and Sweden. This reflects the importance of its contract to provide wet lease operations to SAS Scandinavian Airlines. Since merging with Air Nostrum in Oct-2023 under the new holding company Strategic Alliance of Regional Airlines, CityJet is part of Europe's largest independent regional airline group by fleet size. Securing more long term airline customers is a key challenge, but CityJet is a long term survivor, with a track record of adapting to change. easyJet is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its first Berlin flight, which flew to Schoenefeld from Liverpool on 28-Apr-2004. In 2018 easyJet added Berlin Tegel to its airport network when Air Berlin exited, and it soon became the biggest operator by seats in the German capital city. When Berlin Brandenburg Airport replaced its two predecessors on 31-Oct-2020, easyJet became the first airline to take off from the new airport the following day. easyJet expects to fly to more than 50 destinations from Berlin this summer, including five new destinations. Moreover, it has demonstrated its commitment to Brandenburg with on-site investments, including a hangar. Nevertheless, easyJet rationalised its Berlin operations in 2022 and it is far from its pre-pandemic capacity: for the week of 29-Jul-2024 its Brandenburg schedule has only 39% of the seats that it offered across Schoenefeld and Tegel in the equivalent week of 2019. Many believe that international first class cabins are disappearing, but maybe they're just morphing? New widebody cabin layouts emerging from American Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Lufthansa, and others are demonstrating a new compromise with a choice of experiences within the same cabin. In Lufthansa's Allegris cabin pictured here, the first row of seats in the business class cabin are slightly larger pods, perhaps to cater to legacy first class customers. There are also other choices like throne-style seats for more privacy, seats with longer beds, and seats that are well-suited for couples traveling together.
