Grace employees across the U.S. had a special opportunity last week thanks to our Veterans Employee Resource Group, GVETS. Chris Willingham, retired U.S. Marine Military Working Dog (MWD) handler, gave a keynote address and spoke about his time serving overseas with his MWD, K9 Lucca. “I was very blessed to be paired with Lucca. During her 400 patrols, no one was ever injured when she was walking point. She was an incredible asset to have on the battlefield,” said Chris. Today, Chris is President of the United States War Dogs Association , a nonprofit that supports military working dogs - both current and former - and promotes the long history of their invaluable service. Special thanks to our GVETS board members Nathan Atkins, Barbara Miller, Steve Karavas and Brian Terpening for hosting this event. It was an honor to share my experiences with GVETs and support Grace’s efforts to honor their veteran employees. Transitioning to the civilian world can be tough, but with compassion and understanding from employers like this, our service members can be successful. Thank you all for your time and K-9 leads the way!
