Important document and well done Marine Direcorate
We have now published the updated Scottish Marine Energy Research (ScotMER) evidence maps: https://bit.ly/4cruCDX. These maps detail the gaps in the evidence surrounding the impacts of offshore renewable energy on the marine environment 🌊 . Scottish Government work with a range of internal and external experts to map out the gaps in existing evidence through the ScotMER receptor groups and ensure a shared common understanding of the research needs. In February, ScotMER ran their 6th annual Symposium, showcasing some of the most up to date research in this area. If you missed the event, you can now watch the recorded talks on the Marine Directorate YouTube channel here: https://bit.ly/4csCmpp.

Energy Transition Senior Leader | Non-Executive Director | Accelerating the transition to a net zero future.
Looking forward to an engaging discussion. The industrial ecosystem of the Oil & Gas Industry is a formidable asset to build a net zero integrated wider energy system.
Excited to unveil another key panel at our 85th Annual Conference in Oslo: "Transformation from O&G Province to Broader Energy Super Basin". This discussion is set against the backdrop of the North Sea's pivotal shift from a traditional oil and gas domain to a comprehensive energy hub, spotlighting the journey towards renewable and low-carbon energy solutions. Featuring industry leaders Jez Averty from Equinor, Torgeir Stordal from the Norwegian Offshore Directorate, Torger Rød from Vår Energi, Ariel Flores from BP, and Luca Corradi from NZTC, this session promises to dive deep into the innovations redefining energy security, affordability, and sustainability. It's a critical moment for energy professionals to connect with the trends and collaborations shaping our energy future. Don't miss out on this essential discussion. Pumped hydro makes sense for storing and time shifting excess energy, stabilising power grids and providing an insurance against a lack of generation (renewable or fossil fuel). With an 80+ year project life and fuelled by recycling water between 2 linked dams, these assets are the key enabler in the transformation of our energy systems.
To maximise the potential of renewables like wind, we need proven electricity storage solutions that don't rely on fossil fuels. Pumped storage hydro is a mature and reliable technology and offers a proven and cost-effective solution. We went to Switzerland recently to see how the Nant de Drance PSH facility, managed by our project partners Alpiq, works. If you want to learn more about Glen Earrach Energy’s Pumped Storage Hydro project on Loch Ness, join us at our upcoming community drop-in event. 📆 Wednesday 14th August 2024, from 4:30 pm – 9.30pm 📍 Balnain Hall, Balnain, Inverness IV63 6TJ 🔗: https://lnkd.in/eSQD393k

Fantastic photo of our Ana Isabel Pirrone - Dpt. Country Manager #OWCSpain - participating in a panel discussion at yesterday's WORLD FORUM OFFSHORE WIND (WFO) 👇🏼 Check out the post below to read Ana's key takeaway on the topic of "Supply Chain and Finance". Can't wait to hear more about your trip Ana! #EnergyandOceans #TheRenewableEnergyConsultants
It was a pleasure to participate in the Supply Chain and Finance panel during the WORLD FORUM OFFSHORE WIND (WFO) Summit yesterday. Main takeaway is that, as an industry, we need collaboration between the supply chain, offshore wind developers and investors so that we can even aspire to meet our renewable energies targets! ⚡️ Thanks to Stuart R Broadley HonFEI for an excellently chaired session, and my fellow panellists, Arne Vatnøy, Pablo Alcón Valero and Meriem Essadki for the insightful discussion!

Yesterday evening I attended Young Energy Professionals Network (YEPN) NZ’s thought-provoking panel event “Powering up the Energy Transition”, hosted at Simpson Grierson and organised by our own Kitty Lin. The panellists shared valuable insights into the consenting and regulatory opportunities and challenges faced by the sector and consumers. We also heard from SG energy and renewables experts Tara Wylie and Rob Macredie. A key takeaway was that collaboration (across industries, within the sector, and between regulators and developers) is crucial to achieving our net-zero carbon goals and securing a prosperous and sustainable future for Aotearoa. You can read SG’s latest Energy Outlook for expert legal commentary and analysis on emerging renewable energy trends here: https://lnkd.in/g-eVJvxu Our June edition covers topics including: * the new Government's policies and their impacts; * the Fast-Track Approvals Bill; * preventing modern slavery; and * the future of offshore wind.
