Are you familiar with the Free Market Medical Association? This network of independent healthcare providers is committed to enhancing transparency and price awareness in our healthcare system. This innovative organizatio n connects patients and businesses directly with healthcare services, offering significant discounts and bypassing the hefty markups often associated with large hospital systems. In our documentary, we expose the reality of exorbitant facility fees imposed by hospitals and larger healthcare organizations. One standout example is the Surgery Center Of Oklahoma which provides medical services at astonishingly lower prices—often ranging from 1/8 to 1/10 of the costs charged by major hospitals! This model not only benefits patients but also empowers employers who engage in direct contracting with third-party providers like surgical centers. By doing so, they can offer their employees affordable healthcare solutions without compromising quality. #healthcare #hiddenfees #healthcareservices #priceawareness #independent #independenthealthcare #didyouknow

Digital Health Consultant | Health Economist | Expert in Commercial Management, Health Tech Policy, and Strategic Partnerships | Prince2 | Driving Innovation and Diversity in Healthcare
Some days ago I joined the webinar “How can ICSs navigate the EPR landscape for improved information flow, and what part does convergence play in this?” All speakers brought their experience in EPR design and implementation. However, I would like to share some of Adam Dangoor's insights which resonated after my experience working on the intersection between procurement in Digital & IT and emerging technologies. I engaged widely with NHS colleagues and also suppliers (SMEs and big players) in this field. Overall, I see a gap between procurement and policy to assure value for money and the procurement rules were not suitable for emerging technology. Note that I am aware there are new procurement rules looking to support the innovation ecosystem and SME’s. I still need to get updated on this…so for now, bear with me regarding the new Procurement regulations. Below Adam’s insights that I think are spot on! 1. Procurement rules. “The rules seem sometimes obstructive to any cooperation between neighbouring organisations. I can understand why we need procurement rules but they don’t encourage best practice and they create barriers to integration working together ” Hopefully recent changes in Procurement can tackle this problem! 2. Capital and revenue argument and the roll-over of cash between years. We need not only capital but revenue and year-by-year spending to be able to do anything realistic. If you don´t spend it by certain date, you will loose it. This does not encourage best use of money. This is one of the things that prevent the NHS to work efficiently. We need to work on that. 3. Links between systems when we do procurement. There are a lot of suppliers in the market with innovative products and it’s difficult for them to get engaged. We need to encourage links between them and the NHS. An example is the NHS app. If someone develops and app for diabetes treatment, how can we make it easier for those other suppliers to link into the health records so they can obtain data (and meet certain standards) and supply data for the EPR to make a more mixed ecosystem of optimal products. Haris Shuaib, Martin Bell Neesa Mangalaparathy Adam N. Nick Allen FCIPS Chartered Professional Jack Porter Leanne Summers Dominic Cushnan Darrien Bold Jacqui Rock, FCIPS - the above will / may resonate with your experience!
This HSJ webinar, in association with System C Healthcare, will ask how ICSs can navigate the EPR landscape for improved information flow, and what part convergence plays in this. The panel will include: • Adam Dangoor, CCIO and consultant medical oncologist, University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust • Paul Jones, Chief digital information officer, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust • Guy Lucchi, Managing director of healthcare, System C • Alison Moore, HSJ correspondent (webinar chair) Register today: https://lnkd.in/en6Nuw3A

The hospital of the future? It might just disappear. Picture this: No more sterile waiting rooms. No exhausting trips for vulnerable patients. Instead, a seamless integration of high-tech care, environmental health, and nutrition – all accessible from wherever you call home. At NLC, we are fortunate to work alongside some of the brightest minds in healthcare innovation. One of those minds belongs to Dr. Fenna Heyning, who has just published a thought-provoking book on the future of hospitals, The Disappearance. Drawing from her wealth of experience as an internist and hospital leader, Fenna takes us on a journey through the evolution of hospitals—from long-term patient “guesthouses” to the modern-day technological fortresses we see today. She dares to ask: What if we tore down those concrete walls entirely? Fenna argues for a healthcare system that transcends the traditional boundaries, integrating high-complex healthcare with public health, environmental sciences, and nutrition. Her message is clear: to truly care for future generations, we need to adopt a more holistic perspective, breaking down the silos that have fragmented our approach to health. Dr. Fenna Heyning's book, The Disappearance, challenges us to reimagine healthcare from the ground up. At NLC, we are incredibly proud to have Fenna Heyning as part of our team. Her work as Lead Clinical Expertise bridges the gap between clinical practice and innovation, ensuring that the best of science reaches patients. And with her new book, she is pushing the conversation even further—inviting us all to rethink what healthcare could and should be. A sweet reminder that the future of healthcare is not just about technology or treatment—it’s about reimagining the very foundation of how we care for ourselves and each other. Already curious to see how the future hospital looks like? Find a link to buy the book in the comments below. #Futureofhealthcare #Healthcareinnovation #NLC
