💛IS SUICIDE PREVENTABLE? 💛 Statistics documenting deaths by suicide show it to be the biggest cause of death for 15-20 year olds in many European countries. It is estimated that 135 people are affected by each suicide death with more than 6 people experiencing a major life disruption. For every one death by suicide there are estimations that twenty-five make an attempt. Statistics from the Mental Health Foundation show that three times as many men as women die by suicide and quite likely connected, only 36% of referrals for NHS ‘talking therapies’ (to support with mental wellbeing) are for men. 🌐To read the full blog please follow the link: https://lnkd.in/exF7jEBA #TheLearn2Group #SuicidePrevention #SuicideSupport #Brandon #CoventryTraining

Recent statistics have shown that suicide rates in England and Wales are at their highest in over 20 years. A shocking statistic that shows how serious the mental health crisis is right now. I think we can all agree, more needs to be done. As #WorldSuicidePreventionDay approaches next week, let’s work together to change the narrative. Lets talk openly, reach out to others, and support organisations working to prevent suicide. Let's make a difference, together. 💙 https://lnkd.in/eZu6TDXi

Every year on the 10th September, communities and organisations worldwide unite for World Suicide Prevention Day to raise awareness about suicide prevention and encourage action to support those in need. This day reminds us that by working together, we can create a world where fewer people die by suicide. Suicide is the leading cause of death among men under 50 in the UK, and alarming trends show that suicides among teenage girls and young women have nearly doubled in recent years. Every week, 115 people die by suicide in the UK, with 75% of these deaths being male. Globally, over 700,000 people die by suicide each year—that’s one person every 40 seconds, according to the World Health Organisation. Yet, every life lost is preventable. Talking about mental health is crucial. Each conversation, no matter how small, plays a part in building a more supportive and understanding society, where people feel heard and cared for. Let’s work together to prevent suicide and offer hope to those struggling. https://lnkd.in/gEzd74vy

September is national Suicide Prevention month and it couldn't have come at a more poignant time with worrying ONS research released last week showing UK suicide rates are on the rise, with England and Wales having their highest rates in two decades. We need to make sure months like this lay the scaffolding for proper change and support but it doesn't stop there. Check in on each other, be mindful and compassionate. And remember the fundamentals of First Aid for Mental Health - show someone you CARE C(heck for risk of suicide or harm) A(pply non-judgemental communication) R(eassure and provide information) E(ncourage professional support) #suicidepreventionmonth #mentalhealth
