Delighted to share that I've completed the "Measuring and Modeling Impact in Evaluations" course by Johns Hopkins University on Coursera! 🌐 This comprehensive program equipped me with skills to evaluate maternal and child health and nutrition programs. I now know how to calculate mortality, morbidity, coverage, and equity indicators, using tools like the Lives Saved Tool (LiST) to estimate intervention impact on child survival. #ImpactEvaluation #MaternalChildHealth #CourseraSuccess

We all are concerned about under-5 diarrhea. The world has made remarkable progress in reducing under-5 child mortality. So, older children are growing in number. We recently published an article in Plos One where we aimed to identify clinical differentials and variations of pathogens among younger (less than five) and older (five to nine years) diarrheal children. We hope our findings may help clinicians formulate better case management strategies and public health researchers to think more about children of 5 to 9 years to reduce diarrhea morbidity. I am privileged to be a Senior author of this article with the legendary Prof. Dr. Tahmeed Ahmed, a pioneer in child nutrition research, which I do not actually deserve. https://lnkd.in/eqse7Tmr Happy reading!

I'm excited to share my recent collaboration with The Economist on a report that shines a light on the economics of oral health. Key insights include: - An average cost of above €20,000 per person for direct treatments of carious lesions. - Potential savings of up to €14,000 per person in direct costs by preventing dental caries. The report highlights the critical importance of preventive measures to cut costs, especially for the most vulnerable groups. It advocates for a shift towards prevention in oral health care, underscoring that the majority of oral health issues are preventable. Simple, effective, and cost-efficient interventions are recommended to enhance the oral health of populations. This collaboration underscores the urgency of rethinking our approach to oral health, focusing on reducing access inequalities and implementing preventive strategies to ease the economic burden on both individuals and health care systems.
