In Kazakhstan, 83 reserve mineral deposits will be put up for auction. Newtimes.kz reports this. According to the agency, a mandatory condition for those who will extract natural raw materials will be the production of products not lower than the average processing level, as well as social contributions to the regions. According to a statement by the Geology Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, private investors are increasingly interested in investing in the search for promising subsoil. The department added that in order to increase investment in subsoil use, the entire territory of the country is included in the state fund management program. The average exploration period can take up to 10 years. According to the Committee, in total, the state balance accounts for more than nine thousand deposits of 103 types of minerals. At the same time, Kazakhstan’s raw material reserves may last up to 100 years. “Unfortunately, the era of large deposits is coming to an end. We are now studying complex, “blind deposits” that are located at a depth of hundreds and thousands of meters. Here we need to apply fundamentally new approaches and learn to work with new risks. To build capacity and replenish the country’s mineral resource base, it is necessary to understand that stable financing of state geological exploration of subsoil influences the growth of private investment,” said Chairman of the Geology Committee Erlan Akbarov.

London listed Aterian’s early stage HCK lithium project in southern parts of Rwanda looks like a promising prospect. Results are encouraging, but keep in mind that this is an early stage greenfields exploration project. I like this project firstly because it is in Rwanda, now considered one of the most business-friendly countries in Africa to do business in, and secondly because it has the backing of global mining giant Rio Tinto.           Aterian entered into a joint venture earn-in agreement with global mining giant Rio Tinto Mining and Exploration in August last year to explore the lithium potential at HCK.          According to Charles Bray, Chairman of Aterian, the ground soil sampling survey has identified several anomalies consistent with the possible presence of lithium-bearing minerals. Drill targeting is underway using the recent geochemistry supported by geological mapping and ground geophysics. Earthwork proposals for drill pads and access have been received, and a contractor has been identified.
