As we mourn the tenth anniversary of the genocide committed by ISIL against ethnic and religious groups in Iraq, including Yazidi, Christian, Shabak, and Turkmen, Yazda together with Coalition for Just Reparations (C4JR), SEED Foundation, and Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights, developed a report highlighting 10 priority demands of survivors. "10 Demands, 10 Years After the Genocide by ISIL" presents demands drawn from consultations with survivors, conducted by C4JR members, including Better World Organization for Community Development, Dak Organization, Farida Global Organization, Free Yazidi Foundation, House of Coexistence (HOC), and Justice Organization for Minority Rights (JOMR). Their findings emphasize enhanced security measures, accessible healthcare, the exhumation of mass graves and return of the missing, educational support, and international recognition of the genocide. Addressing these demands is crucial for the long-term recovery, stability, and safety of survivors targeted by ISIL’s genocidal campaign Download the report: https://lnkd.in/dQfQkuwU Direct download: https://lnkd.in/dJh4mNcu #YazidiGenocide #SurvivorDemands #10YearsAfter #JusticeForSurvivors

Georgio Konstandi's article explores parallels between Cyprus and Bosnia in dealing with partitionist violence. It highlights historical divisions in both regions, from Cyprus' Green Line since 1963 to Bosnia's post-Dayton Accords. Both areas struggle with entrenched narratives, genocide denial, and institutionalized segregation. Grassroots organizations like Oštra Nula in Bosnia and HÀDE in Cyprus aim to challenge these narratives through community engagement and historical education. Despite differing contexts, the shared struggle against partition's divisive legacies unites efforts for reconciliation and peacebuilding in these post-conflict societies. In commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of the Yazidi Genocide. Today, on August 3rd, we mark the 10th anniversary of the Yazidi genocide that began in 2014, when ISIS launched a brutal campaign against the Yazidi people in Iraq. Let us honor the memory of those who lost their lives and recognize the resilience and strength of the survivors who continue their fight for justice and healing. It is also a time to address the ongoing issues they face today. The Yazidis are a religious community with beliefs and practices that trace back thousands of years, and who are denounced by ISIS as infidels. The 2014 genocide was ISIS's strategy to eliminate the ethnic and religious identity of the Yazidi people. It resulted in the deaths of over 5,000 Yazidis, abduction of more than 6,000 women and children. Women and girls were enslaved, and entire communities were displaced in a calculated act of terror and destruction. Despite the immense suffering, survivors have shown extraordinary resilience. They continue to seek justice, rebuild their lives, and preserve their cultural and religious heritage. However, many remain missing, and the survivors carry deep physical and psychological scars. Today, marking 10 years since the Yazidi genocide, it is crucial that we also reflect on the path forward. We must address ongoing conflicts where the needs of survivors and at-risk populations continue to be unmet. #YazidiGenocide #HumanRights #JusticeForYazidis #RememberingGenocide #inclusivecitizenship #humanrights #YezidiGenocide (photocredit: Håvard Bjelland /Norwegian Church Aid)

As we mark the 10-year anniversary of the Yazidi genocide perpetrated by ISIS, we reflect on the resilience and strength of the Yazidi community. Despite facing unimaginable horrors, they continue to rebuild their lives with the support of organizations like the Roja Shingal Human Rights Organization, where Naam Al-Hussain and her team are providing essential mental health care and skills training to help survivors become self-reliant. However, the needs remain vast. Over 2,600 Yazidi women and children are still missing. The genocide has not been officially recognized by Iraq, complicating efforts for justice and accountability. Many Yazidis still live in tents and lack safe housing, legal support, and protection from future threats. This anniversary is a call to action for all of us. By raising awareness and providing support, we can help ensure justice, dignity, and a brighter future for the Yazidi people. Join us in this important mission and read our latest story to learn how you can help. https://ow.ly/SIS650SQBFA

Today, we honour Truth and Reconciliation Day. We, at the Palestine Impact Collective, acknowledge the painful history and ongoing impacts of colonialism and systemic oppression faced by Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island. We stand in solidarity with the survivors of residential schools, the missing and murdered Indigenous women, their families, and all Indigenous communities as they continue the long journey toward healing and justice. The Palestinian struggle for justice shares deep parallels with the experiences of Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island. Both peoples face displacement, cultural erasure, and systemic marginalization, making our fight for justice and equality interconnected. We recognize the importance of listening, learning, and amplifying Indigenous voices in their quest for self-determination, much as we do for Palestine. We encourage our members and all those who believe in our cause to first read Indigenous voices/words: - Reclaiming Power and Place: The Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women - 21 Things You May Not Know About the Indian Act by Chief Bob Joseph - Decolonization is not a metaphor by Eve Tuck and K. Wayne Yang - Read the 94 Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Report and reflect on how you can play a role in advancing these Calls to Action. 🗓 One Year On: A Call for Justice and Accountability in Palestine and Lebanon🇵🇸 🇱🇧 Today, October 7th, marks one year since the escalation of violence in the Holy Land, leading to the devastating loss of innocent Palestinian and Jewish lives. ⚠️ While the Zionist project has existed in Palestine long before this date — most notably gaining momentum during the Nakba in 1948 — this past year has seen it reach new heights of violence, cruelty, and destruction. The ongoing displacement, dispossession of land, and erasure of Palestinian society, culture, and political rights continue with alarming brutality and with shameless complicity from Western governmens. 📢 It is crucial to recognise that within the Pro-Palestine movement, Anti-Zionist Jews play a vital role. They declare loudly, “Not in our name,” urging the world to understand that Zionism, often masked as a component of Judaism, fuels the very antisemitism it claims to fight. 🔗 At IoNV, we acknowledge that Semitic peoples include Jews, Christians, and Muslims, and are the Indigenous people of Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria. Denying this reality, while maintaining apartheid on these lands, is fundamentally antisemitic. 🚫 We call on the Australian government to uphold its obligations under international law and pressure Izræl to end its illegal occupation, stop the gen0cyd and ethnic cleansing, and to be held accountable for its crimes against humanity. ⚖️ Human Rights and international law must apply equally to all humans, lest they be made redundant for all humans. 🕊️ At IoNV, we stand for peace, justice, and non-violence — because none of us are free until we are all free. #Palestine #Lebanon #EndIllegalOccupation #HumanRightsForAll #AntiZionism #EndGenocide #JusticeForPalestine #HandsOffLebanon #StopTheGenocide #PeaceAndJustice #FreePalestine #EndApartheid #IoNV #Instituteofnonviolence #NonViolence
