Our YMCA has been a vital, community anchor for over 50 years. Since 1972, the YMCA of South Palm Beach County has proudly served the community, supporting tens of thousands of children and adults from all walks of life. From learning to walk, to learning to swim, from supporting families to aiding cancer survivors, the Y helps everyone become stronger in spirit, mind and body. But now, people in our community are increasingly in need, especially our most vulnerable. Where some see challenges, we see possibilities. And today, we have the opportunity to build on our YMCA’s strong foundation. That’s why we are launching the ‘Building Possibilities’ Campaign, a 3-year effort to boost our YMCA’s Reach, Relevance, and Mission Impact. But we can't do this alone. Grantmaking in mental health can be very challenging. This publication provides important insights from highly experienced mental health Grantmakers.
What do veteran grantmakers have to say about investing in behavioral health? We interviewed highly experienced grantmakers from 17 national, regional, and local foundations—with assets ranging from just under $1 million to $12 billion—regarding their experiences funding mental and behavioral health projects. The lessons they learned, challenges they encountered, and opportunities they identified can serve as roadmaps for the thousands of foundations now considering mental and behavioral health care grants. Thank you to coauthors Mallet R. Reid, MA/MSW of Edge Philanthropy, and Lourdes Ximena Murillo of United4Change Center U4C, and deep gratitude, especially to co-author and friend Robert J. (Bob) Reid, PhD for our long-term partnership in philanthropy. Many thanks also to the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy for including the paper in the new issue of The Foundation Review. Ahead of the General Election on the 4th of July, it is crucial that the needs of babies, children and young people are prioritised. They deserve safer, happier and healthier childhoods and more equal access to opportunities. All political leaders must now use their manifestos to set out plans to tackle child poverty, provide more support for young people’s mental health and wellbeing, and invest in children’s social care. We have a crucial opportunity to put children's concerns and experiences at the centre of decision making – to bring children to the table. We look forward to working with political parties as they harness this opportunity. We also call on party leaders to take the ground-breaking step of participating in a televised debate focussed on children and young people. What better way to show that they value children and young people than to include them in these key conversations? Let's have Children at the Table in transforming their lives. Board of Director Chairperson "CLCL Foundation" -- Choose love. Celebrate life. A Foundation for Youth & Families, Inc.
262 days with ZERO SAFE HAVE ACCESS for ALL youth in Ocean and Monmouth County, NJ (approx 162,813 10 to 19 year-olds without any local help). Newark is the ONLY option for youth under 18 - for many in Ocean County, this city is over an hour away. It DEMANDS YOUTH LEAVE their self-made support networks made up of peers, teachers and coaches. It FORCES YOUNG PEOPLE to leave their communities. And it INSISTS URBAN CITIES foot the bill for suburban youth. This is NOT the way evidence shows is best for addressing the mental, emotional, and behavioral needs of youth and families in need of support services. Youth have a FEDERAL RIGHT to runaway and stay safe. If we deny them local safe refuge, they are more at-risk of human and CHILD TRAFFICKING, offering SURVIVAL SEX, and a litany of negative outcomes. Help CLCL Foundation RESTORE SANCTUARY ACCESS and expand preventative services to thwart runaway and homeless youth. There is an evidence-based, trauma-informed, antiracist and inclusive way to provide services. Problems have SOLUTIONS - only TOGETHER can we have the wisdom and power to make the difference. #USA 🇺🇸: Delighted to join my fellow Evaluation Panel Reviewers for the Yield Giving Open Call & members of the Lever for Change network in sharing and amplifying the following exciting news: Today, MacKenzie Scott’s Yield Giving announced that 361 organizations are receiving $640 million for their work with people and in places experiencing the greatest need in the United States. This cohort of 361 outstanding teams from 38 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico will enable individuals and families to achieve substantive improvement in their well-being through foundational resources. These community-led, community-focused organizations work in urban and rural settings, with individuals of all ages, focusing on a wide range of issues. Yet, they share a common sense of purpose: the Open Call awardees are all making positive change in their communities by reducing disparities in economic outcomes, education, health, and other critical issues. The Open Call received 6,353 applications and initially planned for 250 awards of $1 million each. In the Fall of 2023, organizations top-rated by their peers advanced to a second round of review by an external Evaluation Panel recruited for experience relevant to this cause, and underwent a final round of due diligence. In light of the incredible work of these organizations, as judged by their peers and external panelists, the donor team decided to expand the awardee pool and the award amount. The 279 organizations in the top tier of scores will receive $2 million each, and the 82 organizations in the next tier will receive $1 million each. Congratulations to all of the awardees! It's so helpful for fdns to publish these: success rates of applications for various things. Enables nonprofits to make more informed decisions about whether to apply. (Yes I know that past rates are no guarantee of future ones, but they're an indication, and better than zero data. DOI: this is from Friends Provident Fdn, wrangler of the Fdn Practice Rating for which Giving Evidence produces the research.) #philanthropy

Today is National Children’s Day and Old Hickory Council is thrilled to invite you to celebrate the boundless potential and promise that each child holds. But this special day is more than just festivities; it's a heartfelt call to action. 💖 🚨 Consider the following: - Over 9 million children in America are battling the hardships of living in poverty. - About 20% of kids in the U.S. face obesity, a threat to their future health. - In 2021, around 600,000 children experienced abuse and neglect, according to the latest national data. Our heart beats for preparing youth for their future by preparing them to make ethical and moral choices, teaching live skills, and preparing them for their future life and career. Interested in supporting a young person?? Consider making a donation or getting involved with our movement. Discover how by visiting our website: https://lnkd.in/giH6qay8

Nonprofit Executive, Director of Development and Community Engagement, story teller, advocate, public speaker, event planner, fundraiser, mother, and a person in long term recovery
Ahhh! This is the moment that everything will come to a head! Leaning back and putting my body #overtheedge is going to be so scary, exciting, and nerve-wracking! But I’m willing to do it for an incredible cause! I’m going to rappel to expand adolescent recovery services because I wish a place like 4D Recovery existed when I started experiencing Substance Use Disorder in high school. A place that made RECOVERY look attractive to me. A place where I could see other people I thought were cool and admired who chose SOBRIETY and had a lot of fun doing it! When I was in high school the kids I saw having fun were the ones dropping acid and MDMA, or at the least getting high and drinking at all the parties. But the fact is, with the surge of fentanyl - it’s no longer safe for kids to have an experimental phase like so many of us did! And in Oregon, there are very few resources available to people under the age of 18. It’s time to expand adolescent recovery support and treatment! What an EPIC way to bring awareness and raise money for the future of our world.. our youth! 🔆 I’m looking for local businesses who want to join us as sponsors as we descend into action, raising vital funds and awareness. As well as individuals who want to take the plunge with us this June at the Hyatt Centric Downtown Portland! 🔆 THIS opportunity for team building and corporate partner visibility is unlike anything you've ever participated in before. Plus, you will make a lasting impact in your community. Will you #rappelforrecovery with us? https://lnkd.in/gAvP53VK #rappelforrecovery #overtheedge #sobermovement #soberlifestyle #4drecovery #corporatesponsorship #philanthropy #communityimpact #overtheedge
