Electric vehicles are continuing to gain traction ⚡ The latest figures from the SMMT show that electrified cars (hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric) made up a whopping 42% of new car registrations in July! While more people are buying electric cars overall, the number of individuals buying them directly is going down. We need to make sure everyone can make the switch to electric, not just businesses. It’s clear we need to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles. More charging points, better incentives, and continued support for the industry are essential. What do you think we need to do to encourage more people to go electric? Let us know in the comments! #EVs #ElectricVehicles #AutomotiveIndustry #UKEconomy #ClimateChange #EVAdoption #PlugInHybrids #BatteryElectricVehicles #NewCarMarket #AutomotiveTrends

THIS IS TODAY! Join our webinar to find out more about the next phase of the electric vehicle transition and what we can do to support those who are on the verge of making the shift. https://lnkd.in/eEpxzzyk
The transition to electric vehicles is moving into its next phase. Gone are the days of the early adopter - welcome the early majority. With a million BEVs on UK roads and BEVs due to make up over a fifth of all new car sales this year, the UK's movement towards the “early majority” shows the beginnings of the mass market. What does this crucial segment think about EVs and what's holding them back? In our webinar on March 18, we will discuss the findings of research carried out for T&E UK by behavioural insights consultants, SKIM, to understand what new car buyer barriers and perceptions of BEVs are and identify potential measures that can best support people to be a part of the “early majority”to accelerate EV takeup. Sign up to attend now! Speakers include: David Voxlin, Director of Sustainability & Behaviour Change, SKIM. Elizabeth Culwick, Joint Head, Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV). Marc Palmer, Head of Strategy & Insights, Auto Trader UK. And chaired by Richard Hebditch. Electric car registrations and sales share in China, United States and Europe, 2018-2023 The data shows a clear trend in the global adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), with significant growth in both Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) over recent years. China and Europe are leading the charge, with China showing particularly strong growth, achieving a 38% sales share, compared to 21% in Europe and 18% globally. Interestingly, the United States appears to be trailing behind, with a sales share of just 10%. This disparity highlights the varying pace of EV adoption across regions, emphasizing the need for increased efforts in markets like the U.S. to accelerate the transition to sustainable transportation. The data is a testament to the growing importance of EVs in the global automotive market. As technology advances and infrastructure improves, it's likely we'll see these numbers continue to rise, driving us closer to a more sustainable future. The UK 🇬🇧, one of the biggest economies in Europe, is still at a stage where infrastructure for EVs is being developed. One of the biggest indicators that the infrastructure is not ready is the rate of new car registrations. Norway is the leading country, with 90% of car registrations being BEVs and PHEVs. In second place in Europe is Sweden, with 60% of registrations. Meanwhile, in the UK, 24% of new car registrations are BEVs and PHEVs, and 32% are hybrid cars. This indicates that users at this stage perceive a lack of infrastructure to support EV drivers. #evcharging #charginginfrastructure #electricvehicles
