Handy tip for anyone else who uses their walls at home as mobility aids: Use washable paint (e.g. kitchen or bathroom paint) - the finish is much smoother, as well as being more durable! I both lean on, and 'slide' along my corridor walls (sometimes fully leaning on it, and sometimes just running my hand or elbow along the wall for the proprioceptive feedback) - it's really effective, but I can't at work because the office has standard paint!
