Today we’re celebrating United Nations International Women’s Day. This year’s theme is 'Invest in women: Accelerate progress”; something we couldn’t agree more with. The ‘Matilda’s Effect’ last year highlighted how when you invest in women and girls, great things are achieved and huge progress is made. With this in mind, we asked our team, which female Olympians and Paralympians they are most inspired by, which up-and-coming athletes they are most excited for, and how they think Australian Olympian and Paralympian women have helped progress women's sport. #QMS #OutoftheOrdinary #QCares #IWD2024 #InvestInWomen

"The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me." – Ayn Rand Nadia Hafez, a 3-time Olympian, exemplifies perseverance and breaking barriers. Her journey proves that with determination, anything is possible. Yet, why are such successes seen as exceptions rather than the norm? How can we dismantle the barriers preventing women from reaching their full potential? Nadia’s achievements remind us that the only limits we face are those we impose on ourselves. Her story prompts us to consider a future where women's accomplishments are the expectation, not the exception. Building a society that nurtures and celebrates women's potential requires deliberate action. Let's use Nadia's journey as a catalyst to reflect on how we can create environments where every woman has the opportunity to succeed. #ParisOlympics #olympics2024 #BreakingBarriers #WomenInSports #Empowerment #WomenInLeadership #SuccessStories

For the first time in 124 years, the Olympic Games have achieved a 50% balance between male and female athletes. Sport has the power to transform lives by promoting leadership, teamwork, self-reliance, and confidence. I know that sport is a very important part of my life. According to the Global Gender Gap Report 2023 by the World Economic Forum, progress in closing gender gaps fosters more growth, innovation, and resilience for countries. 🔝 I'm thrilled to witness this era where we can see the change happening in empowering women across economic, political, health, and educational sectors. I am committed to being an agent of change! Another area we need to address is the underrepresentation of women's achievements on social media during the Olympics. A recent example is the silver medal won by Turkey in the mixed 10m air pistol event. While much attention was given to Yusuf Dikec, it's important to highlight that this medal was a team effort, also won by his partner Sevval Ilayda Tarhan. Additionally, in individual events, Tarhan placed 7th while Dikec ranked 13th. Let's continue to shine a light on women's successes in sports and beyond, ensuring their contributions are fully recognized and celebrated. #GenderEquity #Olympics #EmpowerWomen #EqualityForAll #SportsForChange #WomenInSports #AgentForChange You will find more pieces of information here: https://lnkd.in/dkSncgaF

As a woman CEO and a mother I’m elated to have seen the first-ever gender-neutral Olympics for Paris 2024 . I am so proud and hopeful at this unbelievable transformation from only 2.2% of women participation in 1900 to an incredible 50% by 2024. This success is more than a win in sports; it is an existence beyond that reminds us of what we can achieve in our struggle with gender issues. In my role, the importance of leadership, teamwork, and confidence cannot be overemphasized. These qualities are valuable not only in sports but also in business. However, despite the progress made up to now, women are still hindered from reaching top managerial positions. It may take up to 131 years to close these gaps according to the Global Gender Gap Report but it could also be used as an indicator showing that they stimulate innovation and growth. The Olympic success of women athletes in Paris 2024 can serve as a strong reminder for our daughters to pursue their dreams in all fields, including business. Let’s make this historic Olympic moment one for change. Fostering inclusive workplaces and recognizing women’s accomplishments will create our own “Olympic moment” in business. In so doing, we will not only discover hidden talents but also pave the way for future generations. #ParisOlympics #GenderEquality #WomenInBusiness #InspiringWomen #EqualityInSports #EmpowerWomen #DiversityandInclusion #BreakingBarriers #FemaleLeadership #InclusiveWorkplace #olympics2024

For the first time in Olympic history, women athletes will have as many places in the Games as male athletes, making the Paris 2024 Olympic Games the 1st ever to achieve full gender parity. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) described the milestone as “one of the most important moments in the history of women at the Olympic Games, and in sport overall”. Women have come a long way since first competing in the Olympic Games in 1900, with women representing only 2.2% of all participants. They were restricted to sports like golf or tennis - considered suitably 'feminine' at the time. From the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles onwards women's participation steadily rose from 23% to 44% at the London 2012 Olympics, dubbed ‘The Women’s Games’ because for the first time every country taking part had women athletes in their teams. However, the stark reality remains that whilst progress in closing gender gaps has been found to equal more growth, innovation, and resilience for countries, the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report 2023 states that we are still 131 years away from equal representation of men and women across economic, political, health, and education spheres based on the current rate of progress. ⏳ You read that right. 131 years away. ⚡ Organisations and supporting ecosystems worldwide have a huge role to play in accelerating equal representation and access to opportunities for women. And that's why we're launching a brand-new initiative in 2025: the Different Women Leadership Programme (DWLP). A comprehensive, deep-dive experience designed to empower all women to advance their development and leadership journeys. 👋🏾 To find out more, please get in touch via ccl@diversitypractice.com #Olympics2024 #GenderEqualOlympics #womeninleadership #leadership #growth #learning #thriveatwork #professionaldevelopment #futureofwork #DWLP
