There are 3 stages to a stress response. The first one is called the Alarm Phase and lasts less than an hour. But Mother Nature was brilliant and knew where there was one alarm, another might be not be too far behind, so only about 80% of your body goes back into rest and digest. That other 20% stays hyper-vigilant, just in case. If, after a couple of hours have past and there’s no new alarm, your body will chill out and get back into full rest and digest mode. Enter modern life. 👀😵💫 If you have a stressful job, or deal with intense traffic, or have a rough relationship, or have a short fuse from some unaddressed traumas, or even keep your phone on, social media flowing with a 24-hour news cycle in the background: you’re hitting that alarm button again and again and again, which is why you’re not getting fully back into rest and digest and your body is in constant fight or flight mode, leaving you dysregulated and ultimately, depleted. Here’s the tool set we use to help you get out of the cycle and heal a body you hate: * Polyvagal theory * Embodiment and somatic work * IFS * Integrated nutrition * CBT If that sounds good, give us a follow. 💛💛💛 #ifs #selfhealer #internalfamilysystems #anxietysupport #anxietyrelief #somatichealing #somatictherapy #healthcoaching #chronicfatigue #chronicillness #autoimmunewarrior #lupuswarrior #psoriaticarthritis #depressionhelp #healingjourney #smalldailyhabits #polyvagaltheory #healinganxiety #healingdepression #selflovejourney #lupusfighter #rheumatoidarthritiswarrior #hashimotosdisease #celiacliving #lipedemafighter #inalumni

You WANT help, but people don’t seem to pick up on the clues you’re laying down.😡🫥 You’re drowning in everyone’s needs at your own expense—and here’s the kicker, YOU WANT AND NEED HELP. 😔 But asking for help might feel embarrassing, like you couldn’t handle it or figure it out on your own.🫣 Or maybe it feels like you’re an imposition, or not the super hero that everyone thinks you are. 🦸🏻♀️ And even when you do ask for help, people have no idea HOW to help you and you’re driven to an even more lonely state. You start to feel hopeless anyone can help. We aren’t born with these behaviors or traits, they’re learned, and if this is you, it’s not your fault. This is how your brain and nervous system have learned to keep you safe. It’s called the fawn state 🦌, and it’s a frustrating place to live. 🌟 Day 4: Deep Processing for Emotional and Mental Pain🌟 Welcome to 30 🌺 Day Challenge to shift from anxiously reacting to confidently responding. I was at a party 🎉 with a friend. She fell down and injured her knees quite badly. We quickly applied a bandage and gave her a painkiller, but the pain didn’t go away. We realised that we needed to do more than just these quick fixes, so we took her to a doctor 👨🔬 for an internal diagnosis. The doctor examined her knee thoroughly and recommended a treatment plan that addressed the root of the problem. Today, we’re going to talk about the importance of processing our emotional and mental pain deeply, just as we would with physical pain. 🔶 Quick Fixes vs. Deep Solutions Just like my friend's knee injury, our emotional and mental pain also requires deep processing. It’s easy to reach for quick fixes like watching movies, shopping, or scrolling through our phones. These might provide temporary relief, but they don’t address the underlying issues. 🔷 The Inside-Out Process If you truly want to find lasting solutions for your mental and emotional well-being, you need to work on yourself. It’s an inside-out process. The more effort you put into understanding and processing your emotions, the better solutions will emerge in your life. 💠 Takeaway: Commit to Deep Processing Today, commit to taking the time to understand and process your emotions deeply. Just like you would seek a doctor’s help for a physical injury, seek out the tools and support you need for your mental and emotional health. The more you work on yourself, the more profound and lasting the solutions 👍 you’ll find. So what are you choosing today 🤔 ,a quick fix or a process to heal? #mindset #challenge #anxious #responsible #emotions #confidence #stress #anxiety

Can Trauma Really Show Up as Physical Pain? 🤔💭 The short answer: YES. Emotional trauma isn’t just something that lives in your mind—it can show up in your body, too. 🧠➡️💥 Trauma has a way of manifesting as real, physical pain—whether it's headaches, chronic muscle tension, back pain, or even digestive issues. When we experience something traumatic, our bodies can carry the weight of that stress long after the event has passed. Here’s how it works: When trauma is unresolved, it can leave your nervous system in a constant state of fight, flight, or freeze. This keeps stress hormones elevated, causing inflammation, tension, and even chronic pain. It’s your body’s way of saying, *“Something isn’t right.”* But here's the good news—healing is possible. 🌱 Mind-body practices like therapy, yoga, breathwork, and mindfulness can help release trauma stored in the body and bring relief. 🧘♀️ If you've been feeling unexplained pain, remember that your body may be trying to tell you something. It’s okay to seek help, and it’s okay to heal—both mentally and physically. You deserve to feel whole. 💛 #selfcare #boundaries #selflove #mentalhealth #mentalhealthrecovery #personalgrowth #selfworth #empowerment #no #mentalillnessrecovery #selfrespect #selflovejourney #childhoodtrauma #healingjourney #traumarecovery #emotionalabuse

🌱 Do you know? There's a profound connection between trauma and compulsive eating. 🍽️ Trauma, whether from childhood experiences or emotional distress, can deeply affect our relationship with food. Compulsive eating often becomes a coping mechanism, a way to soothe or numb difficult emotions stemming from trauma. But there's hope! 💪 Enter Myofascial Energetic Release (MER) and Breathwork. 🌬️ MER techniques focus on releasing tension within the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding muscles and organs. Trauma and stress can tighten this fascia, leading to physical discomfort and emotional distress. By gently releasing these restrictions, MER can alleviate tension and promote relaxation. Moreover, trauma can manifest as energetic blockages in the body. Breathwork restoring balance to the body's energy system. By consciously working with the breath, you can access and release stored emotions, facilitating healing on both physical and emotional levels. Ready to break free from trauma-related compulsive eating? 🌟 Integrate myofascial release and biodynamic breathwork into your healing journey. By releasing physical tension and energetic blockages, you can experience profound relaxation and liberation from compulsive patterns rooted in unresolved trauma. Become a qualified practitioner!🌿 #MyofascialRelease #ReleaseTension #FasciaFreedom #BodyMindConnection #TensionRelief #BodyWork #HealingHands #HolisticHealth #Breathwork #TraumaRelease #BreathHealing #EmotionalRelease #MindBodyBalance #EnergyFlow #DeepBreathing #InnerPeace

I’ve talked previously about how trauma can show up in the body, and one of the ways that shows up a lot is 𝐅𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐔𝐄 - just that real feeling of being totally drained and like everything is too much effort. 😴 While there may be medical causes such as anaemia (I always recommend consulting a doctor 🧑🏻⚕️) sometimes we just can’t figure out what the cause is. That’s when it’s worth considering how trauma (of any kind) can affect your body. - 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐬𝐨 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 - 𝐑𝐞-𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐦𝐚 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝 - 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐥 - 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 (𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐬 𝐮𝐩 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥) All of these (and more) can leave you feeling drained. So, this week if you find yourself feeling super exhausted with no obvious reason - try and sit with your feelings and figure out where your energy is being drained. Once you are aware - you can take steps to remedy the situation and begin to heal. (And remember what I’ve shared before about exactly what “trauma” can be - it’s not always huge, life altering events like abuse, death or war) #MindfulMonday #CoachingLife #Fatigue #Stress #Cortisol #TraumaIsDraining #TraumaTherapy #healingheartshealingminds

Depression, often misunderstood as merely a fleeting sadness, is in fact a complex and self-perpetuating cycle that can intensify without intervention. This cycle typically begins with a trigger, which could be a significant life event or even a chemical imbalance in the brain. Such triggers set off a cascade of emotional responses – deep-seated feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and worthlessness. These aren't transient emotions; they're persistent, impacting one's entire outlook on life. But depression doesn't confine itself to the mind. It manifests physically, through symptoms like fatigue, insomnia, and headaches, creating a troubling interplay between mind and body. This interplay results in a vicious cycle: physical symptoms exacerbate the negative emotions, which in turn can worsen the physical symptoms, making it a challenging loop to break. Addressing and breaking this cycle often requires more than sheer willpower. It calls for understanding, support, and in many cases, professional intervention. Approaches like Neurogen Brain Balancing’s HPN therapy, as part of this process, can be instrumental in altering the brain's response patterns, offering a ray of hope in disrupting this cycle. #Depression #MentalHealthAwareness #Neurofeedback #Therapy #HealingJourney

4 months off anti-depressants! 💪 Here are 6 things I want to say: 1) You never know how someone is feeling inside. Be kind and treat them how you want to be treated. 2) There's still a stigma around depression, men, and leadership. It's time for real talk. You can be an impactful CEO/Founder/Leader while taking medication and seeing a therapist. Self-awareness and knowing your capacity & boundaries is key. 3) There is no one way. Every person is different. Some use medication, some don't. Don't judge anyone. You don't know all the details. Meet them with curiosity. 4) Changing my diet was one of the most impactful steps. I'm not a medical doctor, but there seems to be a lot of evidence that depression is connected with inflammation in the body. 5) Holistic is the word. We need to look at body, mind, and soul. The body affects the mind. The mind affects the body. The soul is everywhere and wants to be free and expand. 6.) If you're going through a rough patch: get support. It's a sign of strength, not weakness. You are loved. Because you are love. How are you taking care of yourself? Love, Chris #mentalhealth #depression #menswork P.S.: Doors to the Slow Down Club open soon. So looking forward to pause, refocus and connect together with fellow leaders and entrepreneurs.
