First 5G-Advanced Release now ready!!! This marks a major milestone for 5G-Advanced since now after three years of specification work between handsets and #networks providers. Nokia has provided major contributions to various instrumental features, including enhancements for enabling efficient extended reality (#XR) use and Immersive Voice and Audio Services (#IVAS) codec support that create a spatial and improved listening experience, enhanced coverage and #MIMO performance that will offer 20 percent higher data rates compared to current 5G, accurate positioning with centimeter-level accuracy, among others benefits. Nokia also led the specifications to enable flexibility to allow operation in dedicated spectrum allocations with bandwidths between 3 and 5MHz. What if — in different venues miles apart — fans could attend, experience, and interact with the same live performance? That's the question that Neutral Wireless, d&b solutions, Spectral Compute, and Salsa Sound sought to answer in this year's IBC Accelerator Project. The ultimate aim of the Connecting Live Performances of the Future with ULL-AVLM (Ultra-Low Latency Audio, Video, Light and Media Data) project is to recreate the experience of a live performance in multiple locations. Synchronising lighting, motion-capture, and telemetry data along with video and audio for a seamless, connected performance. To quote our senior systems engineer, Dr. Samuel Yoffe, in a recent interview with IBC — "Imagine if the live experience could be recreated elsewhere, in a more accessible setting. Watching a video of a live performance is not the same as being steeped in sound, feeling the lights dance across your face, and potentially interacting with the performers."
