A whisky brand by Kenya Wine Agencies Limited - KWAL (KWAL), Hunter’s Choice has launched a new upgraded bottle design. The whisky will now be sold in a new-look bottle that has been meticulously designed to include a new closure that will guarantee the product’s safety. The taste and pricing of Hunter’s Choice have not changed. The rebrand is for consumers to enjoy a fine whisky in a nice new bottle, at an affordable price. The last time the company did a bottle upgrade was in April 2018, and they have now improved it after feedback from their consumers. Mr Jonas Geeraerts, KWAL Commercial Director, said, “The new upgraded bottle has three key features: a new closure, a vibrant and modern label, and a new brand proposition. This new closure is aimed at securing the brand as a leader in the local whisky category. The taste and pricing of Hunter’s Choice have not changed. The rebrand is for our consumers to enjoy a fine whisky in a nice new bottle, at an affordable price. What sells the first bottle? What small brands like Penrhos don't have that big brands have in bucket loads: ➡ Brand equity. Everyone knows Gordons but who knows Penrhos? What is the first brand that comes to mind if I say gin? Not Penrhos but could be. ➡ Trust. We are pack animals and if everyone is buying Gordons then they must be right? Lets buy a Gordons, it is safe. ...So how do we get the first bottle into a consumers basket? ➡ Emotion. Why is emotion so important? Emotion is an instant response to how you feel, emotion is the reason to do something quickly. Buy our gin and don't look at other brands. How does Penrhos Spirits create emotion? ➡ Being the first to create a 100% ♻ aluminium that is 91% less Carbon than our glass bottle. Consumers want to choose sustainable options if they can. If a consumer was faced with a wall of gin brands maybe not all will be triggered by the emotion of helping the planet, maybe they might be triggered by the emotion of trust or the feeling of getting a bargain? But first we need to make sure the consumer knows the benefits of our bottle in order to trigger the emotion we want. ...and maybe then just a few will think Penrhos is worth trying because they are offering an extra benefit to me? Two Drifters Distillery capture all their carbon. Does the consumer know how good their rum is? Probably not yet but their emotions will instantly be signaling to choose the small brand over say Captain Morgan because they are doing something that resonates with consumers that the bigger brand might not be offering. What will sell the second bottle? The liquid and so it must taste bloody good because they will not come back for the repeat purchase. And that is why we talk about our bottle because we need to trigger an emotion at the point of sale that will get our first bottle sold. IBISWorld - Tea is going out of style among Britons, along with traditional staples like Sunday roasts and the English breakfast, as people opt for unconventional alternatives that satisfy their increasingly adventurous palates. Canvas8 - Younger consumers are less likely to drink tea throughout the day compared to older groups, likely due to growing up with more beverage options, reducing tea's all-round role in their lives. Mintel - Tetley's 2018 redesign revitalised its brand by focusing on tea's "magical moments of warmth". They evolved their visual identity and packaging, modernising whilst maintaining key brand elements. This strategy transformed declining sales into 3% growth globally. WARC - 73% of people who like bacon or sausages for breakfast are heavy tea drinkers. GWI - Yorkshire Tea created a humorous summer anthem and music video to stay culturally relevant and appeal to younger consumers without alienating older ones. The campaign highlighted the British habit of packing tea bags for holidays, aiming to keep drinking black tea relevant across generations. Contagious - Marketing science can guide tea brands by identifying Category Entry Points, helping increase mental availability and market share through targeted strategies addressing the why, where, when and with whom of tea consumption. Trajectory All of these were quickly retrieved using premium secondary sources. The great advantage of using these is that the data is quick to find, is way more granular than anything you'll find that's freely available, and is often more current. My insights team at Publicis was always small in number; I considered having the right knowledge partners as like having extra members of staff, especially when you have access to their analysts and experts. If your clients operate in a variety of sectors, especially B2C, you'll be a step ahead of your pitch rivals if you have sources like these.
