Over the past two months, we have celebrated our 11th Birthday, Hari Raya, International Women's Day, and launched several employee volunteering programs for 2023. We believe that giving back to our community and celebrating our people is crucial, and we are proud of our team's efforts to make a positive impact. In this issue, we will highlight some of our recent events, initiatives, and collaborations, and share inspiring stories of how we are making a difference together.

International Women’s Day Webinar: Women in Tech

To kick off International Women’s Month, we held a special #LinkedInLive webinar to celebrate the achievements of women in the tech industry. We invited our female experts and leaders Heily H., ZALORA Head of Product, and May Chin, ZALORA Principal Product Manager to share their success stories and experiences in navigating and thriving in tech.

ZALORAYA 2023

ZALORA embraced Hari Raya festivities with our annual ZALORAYA event, and it was a great success! This year's event was extra special, as it was ZALORAYA’s first pop-up experience where the collections were available to explore and shop offline to online. It showcased seasonal modest wear designs and accessories from designer exclusives and ZALORA’s private label brands. We are grateful to our customers, partners, and team members who made ZALORAYA 2023 possible, and we look forward to many more festivals in the future!


Regional Volunteering Initiatives

At ZALORA, we believe in being a #ForceforGood, and our employees play a crucial role in making a positive impact. That's why we are proud to announce our latest regional employee volunteering initiatives, where our teams across Southeast Asia joined forces to support various causes. We planned for each market to carry out volunteering activities in line with our People & Planet Positive strategy just in time for Sustainability Month. 

In Indonesia, we partnered with World Cleanup Day Indonesia to activate Zalorians for a river cleanup at Sungai Ciliwung. For Malaysia, we partnered with The Salvation Army Malaysia to sort out donated items for resale in efforts to give pre-loved items a second chance, and with its proceeds benefiting those in need. Meanwhile, our team in Singapore partnered with National Environment Agency’s “Say YES to Waste Less” Campaign and Stridy, organising an urban cleanup at City Sprouts. 

Highlights of our community service include 100 Zalorians and GFG employees across the four markets coming together as #OneTeamOneDream to make a global impact of 5,655 kg of waste collected and donations sorted, in 392 man hours, in just the first quarter of 2023!

These initiatives not only allowed us to give back to our communities but also fostered teamwork, leadership, and personal growth for our employees. We are grateful to our teams for their dedication and impact, and you can look out for more volunteering opportunities happening throughout the year.


LinkedIn Talent Awards

We are thrilled to have been named the Best Employer Brand (Between 1,000 and 5,000 employees on LinkedIn) by LinkedIn Talent Solutions in the LinkedIn Talent Awards 2022! At ZALORA, our diverse range of backgrounds and local cultures are what make us strong and enable us to work together as #OneTeamOneDream. This incredible achievement is a testament to the collaborative spirit and combined efforts we possess, and we are grateful for all our Zalorians’ hard work and dedication!


ZALORA’s 11th Birthday Celebrations

ZALORA's 11th birthday celebrations were a huge success! From Singapore to Vietnam, each local office organised in-office celebrations that were full of excitement and fun. With traditional food, grazing tables, mystery boxes, and live performances by Zalorians, it was an unforgettable experience. Additionally, we kicked off our quarterly Long Service Awards, where we recognised and celebrated Zalorians who have been with us for 3, 5, and 10 years as #OneTeamOneDream


ZALORA’s Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer on Seamless Shopping

At ZALORA, we strive to #createWOWmoments in every shopping experience. In a recent interview with Retail Asia, our Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer, Achint Setia shared how ZALORA bridges the gap between online and offline shopping experiences by partnering with leading brands in Southeast Asia and creating innovative shopping experiences through pop-up activations. Achint emphasised that personalised and humanised experiences are key in this era of hyper-consumerism in Southeast Asia. At ZALORA, we are dedicated to staying ahead of the curve and continuously finding ways to exceed our customers' expectations.

A Conversation with ZALORA’s Chief Technology Officer

Our Chief Technology Officer, Sumit Jain, sat down with Tech Wire Asia to share how ZALORA puts data at the forefront of our approach to better understand the region’s complexities, tailor each customer’s shopping experience, and fulfil orders quickly.

“To ensure that Zalora continues to deliver a best-in-class experience for our customers and brand partners, we have made significant investments in our platform services and infrastructure that have boosted our warehousing and fulfilment functions, allowing us to keep up with the burgeoning e-commerce market in Southeast Asia.” said Sumit, when asked how ZALORA’s Fulfilment Centre coped with customer demand.
