Good Team

We’re all about our Shack family! As part of Shake Shack’s mission to Stand for Something Good®, we’re always looking to help our team grow and thrive, both personally and professionally.

LC joined the Shack family as a Team Member at our Chestnut Hill Shack in early 2013. During his struggle with addiction and homelessness, LC had taken a résumé class and saw a hiring flyer for Shake Shack sitting on a table.

“Four and a half years ago, I walked into Shake Shack broken and lost. Little did I know! The Shack was a place for me to reinvent myself and give me something to look forward to,” LC said. “Before landing at the Shack, I was bouncing in and out of jobs, never quite holding one for more than six months or a year.”

After three months as a Team Member, LC was promoted to Supervisor, and three months after that, LC joined the Shack’s management team as Manager at the Harvard Square Shack. A year and a half later, LC returned to the Chestnut Hill Shack as General Manager. Today, LC is the Assistant General Manager at the Dedham Shack.

“Talk about being humbled!” he said. “All the perseverance and hard work was finally starting to take shape for myself. From day one, the Shack accepted me for me and never shied away from any part of my past, embracing the fact that I was loud, energetic and passionate about people—which ended up being a perfect match.”

LC’s goal? Keep climbing up at Shake Shack to Area Director with the hope of working his way to an office next to CEO Randy Garutti one day.

“Shake Shack believed in me at a time when I didn’t even believe in myself,” said LC. “I went from being homeless and hopeless to being happily married with two beautiful boys in a newly purchased house that my beautiful wife and I get to watch them grow up in. It’s safe to say I’m living the dream!”

At Shake Shack, we provide a clear path to get our team where they want to be through our “Steppin’ Up Model,” a step-by-step promotional path for growth. Check out this video for other stories like LC’s, and visit our job board to view openings within the Shack family!
