How do you lead through hard times?

It's no secret that we're living in challenging times right now. With global events increasing interest rates and costs of living, it's tough to do business since most people are on survival mode. But as #businessleaders, we must press on and serve our market and employees. 

During tough times, setting an example is one of a leader's most important duties. People pay attention to us as a manager, including our words, actions, and decisions. If we appear wary, they become worried about what the future may bring too. But if we remain calm and on top of the situation, they begin to trust us and do their best work as we all try to move forward.

Empathy is also very crucial for every leader during tough times. Empathetic leaders tend to inspire more dedication and effort from their teams. Make sure you stay in touch with your colleagues, especially if you're working remotely. Plan one-on-one meetings, connect virtually if you can't meet in person, and pay attention to your team members and what they might need to do their tasks or navigate their relationships. Ask questions, challenge or change their perspectives for the better. Help them rise above whatever challenges or negative thoughts they might have right now.

In difficult circumstances, providing supportive and empowering leadership is important. It helps your team move forward and encourages you to become the best leader you can be, too!
