How Recruitment Marketing can deliver business benefits.

Recruitment Marketing is a way of recruiting which is quite different from the more traditional recruiting. It’s based on inbound methodology - how to attract, engage and delight the customer in a more human way. It is empathetic to the customer needs and provides value wherever possible.

What you want is, even if your customer walks away during the sales process, they will be informed, will come back and will definitely recommend your brand further. If you change the word customer in its teachings with the word candidate, we are suddenly talking about a very smart way to attract, engage and hire candidates.

Recruitment Marketing is really about promoting your brand across all channels with the main goal to target the right candidates with the right content at the right time, driving candidates your way and building a pool of qualified candidates ready for when there is an opening.  Talent pooling, better quality hires, candidates engaged with your brand, candidates engaged with your values and ultimately faster time to hire because the work is all done before the candidate applies.

Smashfly, a technology provider for Recruitment Marketing serving Global top 500 companies, carried out research in February 2018 and also found business benefits

Recruitment Marketing Report. "Companies that invest in recruitment marketing outperform their peers. ….companies with a system to attract and engage talent early in the process not only improve overall efficiency but key business metrics.”

So where do you begin?...

How to start with Recruitment Marketing:

Get informed - Understand the principles and methodologies of inbound & Recruitment Marketing - connect internally with your Marketing department they are well informed or hire marketing skills into your recruitment team.

Get your values down and reflect them on your site - be genuine  - work on your Employer Brand if necessary. It’s worth it.  Everything you share will help to connect you with the people who will fit with your values

Measure data - use the data to understand if you are targeting the right people, tailor your message- keep learning and tweaking your target audience. Job Marketing companies like  Vonq and Wonderkind can help here with single targeted campaigns costing as little as 2/3k

Get out there - understand how social media can work for you.  Create and share content to create value for the ‘customer’.  Use organic outreach or paid methods, ideally a combination of both

Nurture those ‘customer’ relationships.  Capture those leads. Use your CRM  tools to understand where they are on their journey with you and relate the content accordingly.

Inbound or Recruitment Marketing is about a mindset change, technology helps in changing our behaviour but there is no quick fix solution. It’s a longer-term investment which has a positive impact on recruitment and real business benefits are for the taking.
