Lead Guitarist Wanted!

Lead Guitarist Wanted!

On September 25th, 1976 a seventeen-year-old kid showed up to audition as the lead guitarist of the Larry Mullen Jr. Band. He did not know how to play the guitar. He did not know how to read sheet music. He never auditioned for anything before because he was never in a band. What he obviously lacked in musical skill he made up with confidence and energy.

The kid's name was Paul Hewson, later to become to be known as Bono. The Dublin based band, would become U2.

You pick the moral of the story:

A.) In life you rise to the level of your self-image...

B.) Fake it until you make it...

C.) Chemistry will draw out the best in people and align the right person to the right role...

D.) Everything you want in life is out of your comfort zone, why not take a shot...

Regardless of what you answered, I believe we all would agree that Bono and U2 are synonymous with cool. Whether it is within their music, their style, their cultural impact, or how they champion the causes of others, they have always been at the forefront of cool. After forty years of successful collaboration, 14 studio albums, and over 150,000,000 records sold hats off the U2 for creating something truly incredible and carrying millions of people along the way!

I believe everything is good there. I left in December and am freelancing.

That's a great story! Good lesson there.
