NEW RESEARCH: How Retailers Are Preparing for Holiday 2024

Today’s newsletter features data from our latest survey on how retailers are preparing for Holiday 2024. Read here.

Holiday 2024: Retailer Sentiment and Trends

Retailers are largely optimistic about the 2024 holiday season, with 43% expecting a better performance than last year, despite 25% anticipating a decline. This optimism underscores a strong outlook for ecommerce, although challenges remain for certain sectors like furniture and department stores. Clothing, apparel and restaurants are showing solid growth, reflecting broader economic health.

Promotional activity is expected to be robust on Black Friday and Thanksgiving, with Cyber Week aligning with last year’s levels. Retailers may adjust December promotions based on November sales trends.

A key concern this season is consumer sentiment, with inflation and economic uncertainty topping the list of merchant worries. Interestingly, past concerns like labor shortages and supply chain issues have diminished.
