SBA Administrator to Honor New Mexico Business

ALBUQUERQUE – Administrator Linda McMahon, the head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), announced this year’s Small Business Person of the Year winners from the 50 states, which includes the New Mexico Small Business Persons of the Year, Mario Burgos and David Burgos of the Burgos Group, LLC.

Burgos Group, LLC is an Albuquerque based, SBA 8(a) certified company that provides facilities operations, professional technical services and general and electrical construction. The leadership of Mario and David Burgos resulted in significant growth for the company. In just ten years, the company has shown substantial increases in year-to-year revenues, with 117 employees working out of three offices with commercial and government clients in seven states. Burgos Group, LLC earned recognition as the top company in New Mexico’s Flying 40 for fast growing tech companies and named three years in a row on Inc.’s 5000.

All of the winners have been invited to attend ceremonies in Washington, D.C on April 30 – May 1 where they will be presented with their individual award along with the naming of the 2017 National Small Business Person of the Year. Additionally, Mario and David Burgos will be honored at the New Mexico SBA Small Business Week Awards Ceremony on May 4.

I look forward to welcoming the winners to Washington next month when they are officially honored for their achievements.”

Each year since 1963, the president has issued a proclamation calling for the celebration of National Small Business Week. National Small Business Week is set as the first week in May, and this year the dates are April 30 – May 6 with national events planned in Washington, D.C., New York City, Indianapolis, Arlington, Texas, and Fresno, Calif.
