The Ghod River in Maharashtra faces a multitude of threats exacerbated by sub-optimal agricultural practices, deforestation, climate change, pollution and changes in land-use patterns. The river is the main water source for ~ 4.5 million people and supports a thriving ecosystem. To address these challenges, Nature Conservancy India Solutions (NCIS) is proposing an innovative approach in the form of a Water Fund. Water Funds are organisations that unite public, private and civil society stakeholders around the common goal of contributing to water security through nature-based solutions and sustainable watershed management. Call for Solutions

The Biodiversity Challenge, an open innovation platform of the World Economic Forum, invites startups and social enterprises working on nature-based solutions. India Climate Collaborativ, a partner of the India Forum for Nature-based Solutions partner, is supporting this effort to source high-impact innovative solutions that promote the conservation, protection, and restoration of terrestrial biodiversity. The selected winners will participate in a curated programme which includes access to the World Economic Forum and UpLink's networks, global visibility, capacity building, and other growth opportunities.
