Women can change the cotton sector
Our inspiration comes from the women we work with. As Madhu from Metrana Village in Gujarat says: "Since joining the CottonConnect programme my family have noticed a big change in me. I have realized that when you take care of yourself your whole family benefits"

6yDear Mrs. Ward, I would appreciate very much your teachings and sharing expertise on this project. I must admit that we tried very hard, over more than 5 years, to increase farmers income from cotton, by all possible ways. It was studied that even if USA would abolish its decades of subsidies, this would only have a 12% effect on income, by far not enough to even think of reaching some decent income level from cotton farming. I am talking of West-Africa, but prices for cotton are world prices, so differences can not be that significant. I came to think that cotton farming is by no means able to lift farmers, be it women or men, out of poverty. Hoping you might have experiences that contradict this not so positive conclusion, I am awaiting your answers. Johan Declercq Expert in Value Chain Development. 'Belgium.

6yWomen have been the pillars of change right from the start of humanity. This is quite sad that they have been subjects of inferiority in several spheres and their phases of life. It's time that they rightfully stand at the same platform and gender inequality should be considered as a punitive act. The #metoo movement and likes of those are steps in the right direction.
