In the spotlight: The work we want
The World Employment Confederation has released the second part of its “The Work We Want” study, shedding light on the strategies companies use to navigate the current workforce challenges, characterized by talent shortages and fluctuating customer demand.
The most prevalent strategy, reported by 52% of respondents, is focusing on and aiding talent from underutilized segments of the workforce, such as those who are long-term unemployed, individuals with disabilities, people with criminal backgrounds, or from ethnic minority groups. Additional strategies include simplifying the job application process, providing specialized support for refugees and asylum seekers, leveraging new recruitment platforms to reach untapped talent, and lowering formal education requirements for job applicants.
To attract and retain underutilized worker groups and international workers, businesses will need to offer more flexible working conditions and a variety of work formats. The research indicates that 88% of surveyed business leaders believe that increasing the employment of agency workers will be crucial for enhancing workforce flexibility over the next two years.
