Non-profit Organizations
A campaign calling on Chairs and CEOs of the world's biggest companies to commit to >30% women on boards and C-suites
About us
THE 30% CLUB UK The 30% Club is a global campaign led by Chairs and CEOs taking action to increase gender diversity at board and senior management levels to BEYOND 30% - the point at which minority voices achieve critical mass and can be heard! The ultimate aim is, of course, parity. Under the leadership of Global Chair Hanneke Smits, the campaign continues to expand its international footprint with presence in 20 regions around the world. We support diversity in its very broadest sense and while gender has been our starting point, we fully realise that considerations of ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background and beyond are all part of the journey - and that gender identities are themselves evolving rapidly. We believe that only those organisations that foster truly inclusive cultures - cultures that embrace women who look, act and, importantly, THINK differently - can reach their full potential to positively impact their people, their markets and their communities. OUR GLOBAL MISSION Beyond 30% representation of all women on all boards and C-suites.

Deloitte Malaysia’s Board-Ready Women Program (BRW) welcomed its 2024 cohort in July. In collaboration with the 30% Club Malaysia, Boardroom Malaysia and Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM), the program aims to prepare and position aspiring women directors for the boardroom. The program comprises 4 modules, from July to October 2024. Module 1 covered fundamental concepts of the boardroom and key considerations before starting out on the board journey. The 30% Club Malaysia Steering Committee member, Marzida Mohd Noor, was invited to share her candid views and personal stories on taking that first step into the boardroom during a panel discussion. This was followed by Module 2, an exciting boardroom simulation which was recently concluded in August. The session simulated a typical board meeting which was chaired by Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, Chairman, Bursa Malaysia. As we drive towards parity and gender diversity in the boardroom, the 30% Club Malaysia is proud to be a collaborator of the BRW Program. #pathtoparity #genderdiversity #DEI #investinwomen #boardroomexcellence

With a shrinking talent pipeline and increased longevity - keeping the over 50s in the workforce is the obvious answer. Excellent piece from Forbes with some eye opening statistics. In this episode of "Mind the Gap," Mariella Frostrup talks to Pavita Cooper, the UK Chair of 30% Club UK - a global campaign aimed at increasing female representation in business leadership. Pavita discusses the progress and challenges in achieving gender equality on UK boards and executive levels and how, despite her work being pivotal in raising female representation to 45%, the path to true parity remains long with significant gaps still evident. She shares her personal journey; the influence of her upbringing, her career decisions and how broader societal issues - such as the need for affordable childcare and flexible working - has inspired her work. Pavita's story highlights the importance of creating opportunities and breaking down barriers for women and ethnic minorities in the workplace. Her commitment to mentoring and inspiring the next generation is a beacon of hope for a more inclusive future. Her advice to her younger self and others is encapsulated in a John Lennon quote: "Everything will be OK in the end. And if it's not OK, it's not the end." I was delighted to speak with Cheryl Hayman FAICD FGIA about how the composition of boards is changing to include directors with stronger customer/marketing, human capital and digital skills. This interview reflects on insights from the 30% Club Australia and Deloitte's 2024 report Green Shoots of Change in the Boardroom. Looking forward to discussing why these operational skills are so important as a compliment to board financial and governance capabilities this Friday at the Australian Institute of Company Directors Sydney Directors' Lunch. Excited to take my daughters to France this week for Paris 2024! It feels extra special because this Olympics will make history by achieving full gender parity on the field of play for the first time ever. 💪🌟 While it's amazing to be part of this historic moment, it's important to highlight that there's still a significant pay gap in sports. Male athletes often earn 20%-80% more than their female counterparts, even with similar sponsorships. 💰⚖️ One of the sports we'll be watching is gymnastics, and my daughters are excited about catching a glimpse of Simone Biles in action! 🤸♀️✨ What I didn't realise is that gymnasts don't receive a salary and have to cover their own training costs. The system lacks transparency, making it tough to understand compensation and pay gaps. Let's celebrate the progress but also keep pushing for equality in every aspect of sports! 🌍❤️ #Paris2024 #GenderParity #EqualPay #WomenInSports #Inspiration #SportsHistory

Yesterday, I had the privilege of sitting down with Alex Atkins, a prominent (female) director in the #miningsector, to discuss insights from the world of non-executive directors. We delved into strategies for advancing one's career in this realm. Coincidentally, an article addressing this very topic surfaced today. A key point made in the article is "chair audit & risk board committees." It's interesting to note that both directors had previous careers formally trained as lawyers initially and are financially literate. #NonExecutiveDirector #CareerGrowth #MiningSector #Networking #Boards #Governance

👩💼 Womenomics: The Power of Women in the Workforce I recently came across a compelling report by Goldman Sachs that underscores a critical insight. Women's increased participation in the workforce is pivotal to unlocking the full potential of our economy, society, and the world we live in. Here are some standout findings: ▶ Leadership Progress: Women now make up nearly 40% of boards in Europe, thanks to initiatives like the "30% Club UK". However, the highest executive levels still see underrepresentation. ▶ Economic Impact: Women’s contributions are crucial. In Italy, the workforce would have shrunk without their increased participation. While global progress is notable, it remains uneven. ▶ Corporate Gains: The number of women CEOs in the S&P 500 has doubled in the past five years. However, representation in tech and finance has decreased since the Global Financial Crisis, a worrying trend with the AI revolution upon us. ▶ Policy Recommendations: Policies must promote women in the workforce, improve access to education, support childcare costs, and provide funding for small businesses. These measures will drive economic growth and innovation. The data is clear. Empowering women and ensuring their representation at all workforce levels is not just a moral imperative but a strategic necessity for economic and societal advancement. Let's champion policies and initiatives that pave the way for more women leaders and create an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. #WomenInLeadership #GenderEquality #EconomicGrowth #DiversityAndInclusion #FutureOfWork
