Dr. Dana Meaney-Delman has accepted the role as the inaugural principal deputy director for NCBDDD.
Dr. Meaney-Delman began her career at CDC in 2012 as the senior advisor for preparedness in the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases. In that role, she coordinated all preparedness activities for the center and served in all emergency responses exercises and responses. From 2016 to 2017 she co-led the Zika Pregnancy and Infant Task Force and co-founded the Zika Pregnancy and Infant Registry. This registry served the basis for the formation of SET-NET, the Surveillance of Emerging Threats to Mothers and Babies Network.
During the COVID-19 response, she served as the principal deputy incident manager, and Vaccine Task Force lead. She also served as the lead for maternal COVID-19 immunization response and led the prioritization of vaccine for pregnant persons, co-founding the V-Safe Pregnancy Registry.
Most recently, she served as the chief of the Infant Outcomes Monitoring Branch in the Division of Birth Defects and Infant Disorders. Dr. Meaney-Delman continues to model the call to serve in our CDC readiness and response activities by recently advising and participating in mpox, dengue and Oropouche responses. NCBDDD is happy to welcome Dr. Meaney-Delman to this new role.
